Michelen seem to be upgrading their tyres on a pretty regular basis:

I expect they will cost more than the PR3's, which in turn cost more than the PR2's.   :well

My tyre guru bailed me up this morning to ask how the PR4s were going.  I told him they've got 5000 kays on them, and look good for another 20 thou.  He said that if I was getting 24,000 out of PR3s, then these should do even better, being the PR4GTs.  Apparently the GT part means that over the top of the radial belts they laid a pair of belts at 45o to the tread and 90o to each other.  This strengthens the case so the tread doesn't "squish" as much (to use the scientific term).
That means the extra $40 was justifiable, rather than just a price increase for the sake of it.   :thumbs

 my PR4 feels excellent on road and after giving it a good ride to ChriSTmas in July laST weekend I am very happy with itgrips great and gives more confidence. It coST me $320 at Vecey moto service, 10-12 Montore Rd Minto,NSW.  :thumb
I dont see GT on the tyre 160/60 ZR17 so I assume its a STandard PR4 ST1100 btw

It's a non standard tyre and I prefer the 170/60 (1300 rear) if I can't get a 160/70 for mine.

I have a brand new set of PR4 GT's (1300 sizes) on my 1100 and, like Johnny, they got their first try out going to Uralla last weekend. Highly impressed and the stability and ride quality is excellent. Looking forward to many more K's on them.  :grin :thumbs :thumbs

On US reviewer in there only got 12,000 kays out of a pair. 

"These are on my 2014 R1200RT and they hold in corners great, even in wet. Just spent the last 1700 miles running through the twisties in NC, TN and of course, The Tail Of The Dragon. 7,500 miles on the bike and it's time to replace both of them."

Sounds to me like he was being very hard on them.  Or maybe it's another Beemer problem.    :grin

Here's an excerpt from one of the Australian riders in the USA Butt Lite competition recently finished:

"I still need new tires, which they did not have, as the Michelins we put on Martin's bike (Road Pilot 4's GT) seem to be the best option, and they are so popular, that they sell out whenever they come into the shops."

These are guys doing over 1000 miles per day for several days.

Another testimonial from a seasoned FarRider:
"Just picking up on Viking Ollie's comments re tyres for his GSA, the new Michelin Pilot Road 4s I used were the best and I will be fitting them to the Aust GSA soon."

Do you know what version of the PR4's he was fitting to his GSA Biggles?  I see there is a PR4 "Trail" tyre which is made for heavy adventure bikes.  The S10 is coming up for new hoops and as I've got a few lengthy road trips coming up and I was thinking of giving the new PR4's a go.

The pr3s on the trophy are done at around 15k, which is what I used to get from pr2s on the st1100. They are a great tyre in all conditions, so if the pr4s are improved they should be great.

Reply just in for you Tony:

"On the USA bike I the Michelin Road Pilot 4's (Trail) onto it and will be
putting exactly the same onto my Aust GSA.
The important thing to note is that the Trails are sized to suit the rim
sizes of the GSA but are true blue Pilot Road 4's."
