When I was having lunch at the Cann River Bikers' Cafe on Monday I met Danny Skipp. He's an Iron Butt and FarRider whose BMW K100 seems to have become a museum piece (as they do). His handle on FarRiders in southroads. He's looking for a new FarWeapon and was impressed by Youngster's and my ST1300s.
I gave him an OzSTOC card ( :-++) and suggested he check the Forum for leads on good secondhand ones.
I can recommend the Cafe. Park on the footpath next to the permanent BSA (one advantage VIC offers) and look around their memorabilia while you sip your coffee. Skip the crumbed fish. It's recompounded woodchip.

BSA - Birmingham Small Arms. They made many famous bikes. They went the way of most of the British bike industry.

Well done! It was just a Googled photo to illustrate the type for Marcus. Then I remembered I had a photo of the Beeza in question, enhanced by two extraordinarily good looking blokes, errrr, ST1300s.

The first bike I ever sat upon was a BSA Bantam. :thumbsup
It was 1954 and I was fourteen years of age and just started work, and one of the older guys at work had one that he rode in to work each day, and he let me sit on it at lunch time, he even let me kick it over a couple of times and sit on it with the motor running. :runyay I remember that every time I rode my push bike after that I imagined I was riding the BSA and changing the gears all by myself. I dreamed that one day I'd be able to own a motorbike of my own, never dreaming that I'd actually own one of the best bikes very built!! :grin

Odd this brand should come up in conversation, as it was the first "big" bike I ever had a ride on - a 650. A past mate tried to put the fear of god into me, but as I couldn't see for the tears - it was an old open face and we were doing the [old] ton out the back of Lithgow late at night, he reckoned I was ok :thumb - good thing he didn't see the grab rail at the back of the seat :grin

My first bike was a 1952 BSA Gold Star series 500cc twin. 1965, Year 11. Cost me 35 pounds.
Someone gave me a Bantam seat as I couldn't afford to replace the original.

Those houses look like NSW Housing Commission fibro boxes. We lived in one in Toronto West in the 50s. I checked Google Streetview. A lot of them are still there.
A big bike like that for a 16 or 17 year old! It's a wonder you survived it! My first bike was only 80cc and it tried to kill me. I was 18.

In Year 12 I owned a 700 cc (British made) Royal Enfield twin that was much bigger than the BSA.
