I got 2 copies but one is called Australian Motor Cycle. Must be on  a  budget cut.

Finally got to read the story. Good reading.

Your cost breakdown was a valuable part of the article, which would be  of help to those planning to do the OzLap in similar style.  My own costs were a lot less, as I did the trip in "Tight Arse" mode.

Thanks Pete,
If I had done it in "tight-arse" mode I would have had to do it on my own. The money was well spent to have Ros along!  :thumbsup

I can't get hold of the Road Rider Mag... would you mind posting the cost summery here?

Hi Marcus,
The article is in the Australian Motorcylist not the Roadrider.
Here is the bit I wrote about our costs.

"Our accommodation for the trip was a mix of hotels, budget motels and cabins supplemented by the occasional (and very welcome!) “Freebie “with friends and relatives we looked up along the way.  We mostly ate our evening meal in the pub or local club occasionally supplemented by self-cooked meals when we had access to cooking facilities and nearby supplies. Our daily food and accommodation costs averaged $83 and $95 respectively. If you are planning a similar venture don’t forget your bike costs (we spent $1,800 on fuel, and $2,200 on servicing and tyres)  enough money to “smell the roses”(we spent almost $3,000 on tours, fares, entry fees etc), incidentals and emergencies."

When you add it all up for the 90 days we took, it seems like a fair bit of money (and it is) but you need to offset that against what you would have normally spent if you had stayed at home for the same period or, more importantly, what you would spend on any holiday away from home for that length of time. You can certainly do it for less if you:

Cheers
Dick

great report and bear seems open to good quality articles as yours. You must remember you have to leave on tuesday if you are doing the tight arse course to be true.
