They say "no direct sun exposure".  I deduce that pertains to the readability rather than its survivability.

It may be possible to make it waterproof for use on a m/c.  Can't go wrong at the price!

Forget Dick Smith, they dont do electronic stuff any more, unless its pre-made.

Biggles I have been running one on my bike for the last three years.  i have it mounted in the engine check port on the left hand side. 

It is clear to read in sunshine, and stills works after washing the bike (read riding in rain) and whatever else has been thrown at it. 

The only thing that has happened is the plastic cover on the front has warped a little and nows sits a little above the actual display screen.  Still works fine and reads easily.  If it does break gonna just change over to the spare I have sitting here.
