Title: Hard to beat!
Post by: Couch on December 02, 2013, 10:21:02 PM
With Tassie experiencing perfect weather recently we made a quick decision late on Saturday to set off the following morning on a previously unridden adventure, well, for part of the way anyway!!  We set of Sunday morning at 9.00 am and headed into Sorell, not because we particularly wanted to go to Sorell, but because we have to do that every time we leave the Peninsula, as it's our only avenue of escape! After reaching Sorell (85kls) we headed up the East Coast to Runnymede, then instead of continuing up the Coast as we usually do, we headed inland to Levendale, there we found a country Museum set up in an old abandoned schoolhouse run by a couple of country volunteers, after spending an hour or so there we continued on to Oatlands, but not before going through numerous small country towns on the way. The road was sealed all the way, very narrow and winding and in very good condition for a country road. The scenery was, as it is everywhere else in Tassie, fantastic!!  On reaching Oatlands we headed for "The Pancake Shop" where we feasted upon pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream. Oatlands is a great little town with some very old but well kept shops and buildings. After filling our faces with pancakes we headed up the Midland Highway to Campbelltown, across the Lake leake road to Swansea and headed home down the East Coast Highway through familiar territory, stopping for coffee at Orford and finally arriving home at 5.45pm. We clocked up around 500+kls which wasn't too bad considering we had numerous stops. I know one thing.....I was buggered when I got home.     Can't wait to do it all again though!! :grin

Looks like a good day.

I'm not used to seeing green this time of the year but varying shades of brown

Retirement looks like being as total pain in the neck, having to tear around the country eating, drinking and riding motorcycles.     :wink1

Great pix!   :thumbsup
