Mate, I could not see in the link anywhere, where it refers to "Queensland Newman Government Considers Re introducing Front Number Plates"  or the relationship to the other link regarding a petition which is about "discrimination about people riding motorcycles." and dated back in october with the other article dated back in August?

This is what that old article was based upon, the introduction of Trucams:

"But TruCAM devices are changing the enforcement landscape by allowing police to read a vehicle's speed from the front, then video it from behind if necessary."

The petition on the UMC website is one of nine regarding motorcycle laws.

Stop The Proposed "Front Number Plate" Laws For Motorcyclists

The issue of front ID/front number plates for motorcycles has been on the government's agenda for years. Recently the Motorcycle Riders Association of Australia had published a article outlining VicRoads attempted to pass legislation on the issue. Not only is this a problem for Victorians, but for all Australian motorcyclists as this could be a nation wide introduction of "Front ID's".

I suspect they will introduce tagging rather than numberplates.  That has been mooted before and appeals to their high tech sensitivities.
