Winston66,
I think that I must have had a mental breakdown,
or else it was some sort of a moment,
and my only excuse is that I could not help myself.
I just went out just to look, and then I came home with another ride.
It is a tatty looking and much unloved (until now), 2006 St1300 ABS ex police 91000K,s on the clock, As it was an auctioned item I did not get the opportunity to test ride it, so I just bit the bullet and put in a successful bid.
However I was greatly surprised and gratified when on the ride back to my digs, 40 k,s through metro Perth, this new personal gift to myself, proved to be a better and more comfortable machine than my other 2003 ST.
I could not believe that it was quieter, less road noise. The suspension seemed more comfortable even though the rear pre load was maxed out and would not adjust.
The engine seemed smoother and very responsive. and the throttle control was precise and somewhat smoother, and the ride quality was excellent , it looked like the tires are quite new as there was no noticeable wear on them.
Unfortunately, no pics, at this stage ,I forgot my camera, so will post some soon.
Now can anyone tell me what differences or changers are there on this P model as compared to the civilian one , also at my first read the P owners manual seems to have only the same info. and does not tell any differences, except that there is no reference to the HISS system, and the front forks do not have the progressive springs, also there is a rev. limiter to 120 MPH. IE. about 200Klm. Ph.
Drivers seat and mounting to chassis is different
Also something about some extra electrical auxiliary circuits for the special add on's, but no details
There is not much to go on.
Has any one got any comments,
and is there a service manual available for this ex police model
Cheers for your input,
I am at home in Northampton 500 K,s north of Perth at the moment,
but will be back in Perth by the weekend with a trailer to pick it up.
I did not want to risk a 500 klm solo ride on an untried or unproven machine for it first major outing without giving it a major and comprehensive check over. I guess that I am being too cautious , but Perth is expecting a heat wave this week ,High 30s to low 40's and there is large stretches of our new coastal highway on my way home that has little or no population.
No point in taking any extra risks.
Cheers to all ,Winston66
