Title: Motorcycling Music
Post by: StinkyPete on December 15, 2013, 05:01:44 PM
Lets have some lists of music that relates to Motorcling, and not necessarily music that you like to ride to.   I will start with the following, all of which are great tracks.....

Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack
Motorcycle - When the Rush Comes
Manhattan Transfer - Route 66
Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
Willie Nelson - On the Road Again

I've just added  Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone to my list

Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen

Got a wife and kids in Baltimore, Jack,
Went out for a ride and I never went back,
Like a river that don’t know where it’s flowing,
I took a wrong turn and I just kept going.

Must've been riding a motorbike, just kept going ...

And Hotel California by the Eagles

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air

Ahh Stone. Back in the days when bikies rode real motorbikes that had power, brakes and handling, not yankie tractors.

If that's an Aussie movie then the riders are overdressed - most riders I see around here in tropical QLD are just wearing thongs, shots, a tee-shirt and a helmet, no gloves.

Handling?  Brakes?   Perhaps you've forgotten that the frames of bikes of that era were made from spaghetti and brakes simply gave you a chance to wash off a bit of speed.

I haven't listened to music (as yet) while riding.  What I like is generally not conducive to sensible riding.  I like the sound of the bike and the road.  In the car I have the best sound system I have ever had, but rarely use it.

I may relent on some of the longer trips, but since I don't get bored going to the Border Run and back (5000kms roughly) in a few days it would have to be longer than that.

This might reflect on years working down the paddock for weeks on end taking in the glory of nature unhindered!

I'm much like you, Saaz. I have listened to, and enjoyed music while riding but I rarely do it.
I also prefer to watch peoples home videos of bike rides without music.. I'd rather hear the noise of the bike, engine, traffic going past, etc. Sometimes, it's better to put music on if there's too much wind noise tho.
I'm not sure whether this thread is about the music you like to listen to while riding, or the music that you like to associate with riding a motorbike (Born to be wiiiiiiiiiiiiild!).

Bat out of hell - Meatloaf.. is one that I associated with bikes. I had an extended version that I used on a video recently because I decided to liven the video up by speeding up the long riding stretches in the video and so the sound was lost.

It may not have been lost of some of you, but I am an unwavering  metal head...not sure wot gives it away, however...sometimes you see a clip that renews ones confidence in the future of true moto-muzic :thumbs...this is music...not that plastic BS stuff on commercial TV talentLESS shows

G'day Folks,

Nice topic. The two best for me are (endorsed by my Great Dane who just slobbered on the keyboard, nice one Duke!)

Bat out of hell, Meatloaf

Born to Run Bruce Springsteen

Only problem is they make we want to drive fast which is never a good thing on double demerit points. Luckily I don't have music on the ST or I would probably not have a license!

Take Care,
Todd

Nana!   Not too bad in her day, but nothing much compared to some of the really good performers of today.
I really enjoy listening to modern pop music, Rihanna, Pink, Beyonce, Adele, Katy Perry, and such, and many of Australia's new found talent. But I gotta agree with Brock, ABBA was, and still is the best ever, and what about The Eagles, and what about...........................ha ha, the list goes on! :grin
