Title: My new 1300P

Well it has happened.
I went to an auction and then I broke down. I just could not help myself.
I put up my hand and scored a tatty looking and much unloved 1300P.
It started and ran smooth with no extra noticeable engine noises or vibrations.
I did not have the opportunity to have a test ride. I had to bite the bullet and take a chance that it would be ok.
When I took delivery I must admit that I was a little concerned , having to commute some 40 k's through the metro rush hour traffic on an unfamiliar machine,in order to get back to my digs.
However after only about one kilometer I had settled down and was perfectly relaxed.
The ride was so sweet and smooth, new tires and a suspension that worked and a very smooth and responsive engine wit great throttle control, (I am a country bumpkin and I hate the city congestion and will avoid it if I can). I was a happy chappie.
Unfortunately when I had left my country home , some 500 K's away to go to the auction I had not really intended to bid on anything , I did not have the foresight to hook up the trailer to the van , so now I was stuck at my mates place in Perth and no easy way to get this new ride home.
So it was another 1000 Klm. round trip to go home to pick up the trailer and then back to Perth to load on the bike and then head off home again. I guess that I must be a bit of a retard to put myself through all of this extra hassell.
Any way it was an interesting but exhausting way to spend a week or so. I actually got taken to the Casino for dinner one night.
So now I guess that some time will now be wasted by my trawling various web sites and forums ,looking for any relevant information on these ex police models,
If anyone has  similar model, (ride), it is a 2006 ST 1300 ABS /P with 91000 klicks up, lets hear from you,
Unfortunately the right hand side lower cowl is damaged and needs a fix or replacement, the right hand tip over cover is a little mangled,(replacement needed), And I would like to get a pair of the rear tip over, or crash bars.
I also need info or comments about the extra  electrical stuff like the wiring and switches etc. that these units are fitted with.
Any and all comments are welcome.
Lets hear from you.
Cheers , winston 66, Northampon , Western Australia

Congrats on the move to the ST13!  You wouldn't go far wrong with an ex-Cop one.  My experience was they are well maintained.  Obviously yours was assigned to a clumsy rider, but buying at the right price (emmachisit?) having to source a few bits is no big imposition.  The tip-over covers are the cheapest part of the bike, fortunately.  Other panels, on the other hand, are exorbitant.  Go to Partzilla to get a fair price.  Brock is the expert on the Police switch block and he's right there in WA.
Glad you enjoyed your ride "home".  They're easy to fall in love with.  The smooth engine with all that torque and the easy handling are just a pleasure.
Happy Christmas Present!     :runyay

I had a very short ride on the back of a white ST1300, they don't seem as stable as the other colours :Stirpot  :Stirpot

Winston66,

Hello everyone, I am surprised and quite gratified at you interest and comments.
Do yo now realize that I can now ride with anyone or group.
It is officially recognized that

I have a WHITE one.

I have a RED one.

And

I have a BLACK one with extra wheels so that I can go faster, and when stopped It will not fall over.

Cheers Winston66

GAVO.

To answer your question,  About The red one, my initial thoughts are to ride and enjoy, in the interim I am hoping to do the big tour next year and include Tasmania , and now that I have a choice of rides, so will now have to choose.
I am busy constructing a single wheeled trailer and if it is successful in trials will use that.
The red ST only needs a tappet check and it will be ready to go , but the new white one seems pretty good mechanically so it may be the ride of choice. At the moment I an so confused.
