After having the first skin cancer frozen off my nose I couldn't help but reflect upon all those years I've allowed the sun to damage the skin on my face.
I can confidently say that a large part of that damage has been caused riding motorcycles for work and play over 25 years + with only the last few years or so using sunscreen on my face regularly when riding.
Geeez....I wish I'd been more careful now! Anyway, I've been wearing a Shoei Neotec for nearly a year now and have to say what a revelation the internal helmet visor is. The UV protection offered by the visor is excellent and I'm yet to notice any signs of sunburn using it, not to mention how much cooler the interior of the helmet feels. It's a pity they weren't available years ago.
Internal helmet visors.......what a great evolution! If your thinking about getting this style of helmet don't hesitate.

Iv'e been looking at the shark vision R helmet with internal visor, simply because if like me you are caught after dark with a smoke visor it can make it very hard to see where you are going.

The internal visor certainly makes them versatile in varying light conditions. Actually, a mate of mine who I ride with has a Vision R and he loves it. It's a good looking lid as well! :thumb

The Neotec is great. I usually wear sunglasses during the day, yellow tints at night. The internal visor is fantastic while riding in those transition times, dawn and dusk to give more flexibility. Sun comes up, internal visor goes down to support the yellows until the first stop. Internal visor goes down over the sunnies on super bright days or riding west into the sunset. I thought I'd never use it when I bought the helmet. I was as wrong.

I also have the Neotec and find it very good. I got a Medium and have had mine 12 months now
I still find it a fraction tight, a bit annoying on a hot day . But still better than being too big
The internal visor is excellent :thumb

another satisfied Vision R customer here as well.
only gripe is slight buffeting at speeds and can be noisy without custom audio earmolds (which I have)
Another great helmet to try if the Vision R fits you, would be the Schubert avail at BMW...it fit my noggin perfectly, wish it would do the same with my wallet... :fp

I bought an Rjays tourtec, it was relatively cheap but does have a visor which drops down if needed.
the Rjays is noisy also but I think this might be a flip up thing.
I do'nt use the visor often but is very handy for day, night rides.

My TourTec was noisy, and mostly comfortable, but it was hot.
Tony, is your Neotec cool to wear regardless of whether the internal sunvisor is up or down?. I've got a Shoei open face, and I'm now starting to think I've got an oval "Shoei" shaped head, and whilst I like the AIr GT and price, I still think it would be too hard to not have a flip face for touring. Once you get used to them, along with the internal visor, I think it would be hard to lose those features. At least the RJays did the job for me and prevented any head injury, but moreso, it has sold me on the combo of a flip face with internal visor.

I can only compare the Neotec to the Multitec which I've been using at work for about 3 yrs. I found the Multitec quite hot as the ventilation wasn't the greatest and the visor seemed overly large which was great for your field of vision but on the down side it allowed a lot of sunlight in. I also found it noisy.
IMHO the Neotec is a big improvement over the Multitec. The ventilation is far better. It has a rear exhaust vent where as the Multitec had zippo....so you can actually feel the air moving over your head with the vents open. The internal visor works very well and practically covers my entire face. I think the visor and improved venting make the helmet feel much cooler.
Noise levels are much lower than with the Multitec. The internal padding comes down much lower and coupled with the chin curtain seems to suppress wind noise quite well. I thought the chin curtain might be stuffy in the warmer weather but so far it hasn't bothered me even on the hottest days. The only negative is the weight. It feels a bit heavy compared to the competition but I'm used to that now. Everything else about the helmet is typical Shoei quality....very good! The price is a bit rich but I couldn't get comfy in some of the other flip fronts.

I love my N104, perfect for riding here during the wet season, when you can go from almost dark with storm clouds to bright sunlight in a matter of seconds
