Every year we say the same to each other......$100 limit (as we get stuff as we want it through the year)
So this year Pockey with her $100 limit got me a 7 burner full Stainless Steel hooded BBQ..... :eek By crikey she is good at finding a bargain :nahnah
But in Pockey's defence I blew it aswell...... o:)

We also put a limit on our spending, and did the Kris Kringle with some of the family as well. I received some great gifts...
Drumming stool
Desk Lamp
A donation on my behalf for hostel accommodation for a High School student in Banbladesh, so he can attend school.
Several bottles of nice red
Dining Vouchers
Camp stove
Biscuits and Chockies.
I have all that I need to relax today, and watch the poms get flogged. :nahnah

I got some lovely "girly" stuff this year. Jewellery from my kids, perfume from my brother and sister-in-law and a cute teddybear crystal tealight holder from one of my friends. Also got a fun plate for my bike, (couldn't get it as a real one, my girlfriend tried and got knocked back as it was "potentially offensive", so I'm now the proud owner of a number plate that reads WTF1, my friend Tina has WTF2 and Faye has WTF3.

Apparently several months ago tickets for the Bruce Springsteen concert in Perth were a bit hard to come by as my wife tried on numerous computer sites, waited on the phone for hours and stood in extremely long lines waiting to purchase a ticket for little ol me but had no luck.
Tickets were gone in a blink of an eye and being re-sold later for the price of a house.
Surprise surprise, a 2nd concert was organised.
Without my knowledge, wifey has sat all night in the cold and rain outside a newsagency in Armadale WA that sells concert tickets.
0700 in the morning, shop opens, wifey gets the last two tickets before sold out.
I'm blessed and I think she loves me.

I saw The Boss on the Born in the USA tour. Hopefully it will be just as full on and great.
I got clothes (will be able to wear new shorts and T shirts!), condiments and some books on collectable bikes in Australia, Game of Thrones book and Everyday Drinking (hmmm....).
I have of course already collected a few things during the year that I just had to have early.....

Spending time on the 21st with a one of my grand-daughters was of more value than any material object.........though an actual winning ticket in the lottery would come a close second.......lol

Patty and I set each other a limit of $50, which was well and good, as I received a few DVD's, a book and shirt, several shirts, DVD's and books from my daughter, but couldn't return the compliment to Patty, as she packed all my gifts to her when I was moving a month ago, so they're all in storage somewhere :p
However, I have next Christmas' pressies all ready to go :thumb
-
Pitstop and I get what we need during the year also, so we set a $50 limit for pressies this year. We joined our $50 bucks and stretched it to get a hoselink 30m hose reel so we can get the hose up off the back verandah.
Cheers

I just got my Christmas present out for a play and I am having a problem. Is there anything more frustrating!
My kids brought me a cheap camera for the ST which I took for a nice run over Bingleburra mountain this morning. Everything went well, pictures were acceptable, sound was a bit dodgy but ok however when I went to share the files I found they were prodigious. 25megs for 5 minutes running.
Is that normal or is it a function of a cheapey camera?
How do you share a file of that size? Any help would be appreciated.
Todd

Now that I've looked up the word "prodigious" I can answer a resounding "YES", quite normal. Video files are large especially if they are capturing sound at the same time. Normally what you can do to reduce the size is "Zilch". Unless the camera allows you to disable the sound (rare) even covering the mike will do little to decrease the file size. If the camera software allows a lower capture resolution (common) then a corresponding loss of detail will result and therefore a smaller file size. The only other option (very rare) is that the camera allows difference file formats. These will vary in size due to the compression processes used.
There are some good conversion programs on the Net that allow you to change the file format (and corresponding file size) once you remove the video from the camera.
This is the main reason that most users go for the biggest memory card the camera will take. And on that note there are some really good Class 10 Memory Cards (Brand Names) around at the moment for $10.
Cheers,
A.

"Handbrake" is a powerful and free video conversion/re sizing program, available from http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php (http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php)

Thank you Totgas and Stinky Pete. I have downloaded the program and will give it a go. Sorry I am digitally challenged but are the videos I see on Ozstoc that size as well?

I just took a 720P (1280 x 720) HD video with sound using my still cam and for 1 minute 20 seconds it took 127mb so I would think your file size for 5 minutes is quite small.
Sharing isn't a great issue though the larger the file the longer it takes to upload to You Tube, Facebook etc The one I did yesterday took about 20/30 minutes to upload to Facebook and it was just the raw .avi footage as it was recorded.
Heaps of free software available here as well http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/ (http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/)

Thanks Alan,
I'll have a go at you tube I think.

Money in the bank from the sale of our NZ house, and my wife arrived here to live. Also my son came over to spend Xmas and New Year with us, he had caught a virus before the trip and gave that to me for Xmas. Have felt miserable since Boxing day, coughing up green stuff, achy joiunts, sore throat and hoarse voice. A Doctor in Airlie Beach gave me a late Xmas present of anti-biotics and I feel a little better.
Bike hasn't been out for two weeks, poor girl.
