Title: Side Stand Mod
Post by: Totgas on January 25, 2014, 10:33:33 PM
Has anyone with a ST1100P done the side stand mod?
I ask because it appears that my ST at least, has 0.1 of an Amp running through the switch even when the side stand is up. Normally this is taken care of by the bikes' electronics however fitting the mod bypasses the dashboard circuit and this causes the side stand light to glow, or be it very dimly. Have others seen this?
A.

Fitting the mod doesnt bypass the dash circuit, it just uses the switched earth to cause the a relay to pull in, preventing power going to the HID power supply

Here is the mod wiring diagram, the earth is picked off the green wire. In the police models, this wire may even have a bullet connector in it, its used for the anti theft switch.

the circuit was designed originally for the 1300, but should work on the 1100.

I have done the mod with no effect on the dash circuitry, it would appear you have not done something correctly.
