Title: Lights and UHF installation ... Thanks for the help guys !!!!!
Post by: Pezzz on January 27, 2014, 09:27:25 PM
When I finally give the bike a clean i will post up some pics.
A big thank you  :Chocies goes out to Wombat and Yorkie for their help this week.

Firstly I had a great evening on Friday with Wombat fitting up the new HID lights and re-positioning my existing Halogens.
We wired them up to switches 7 and 8 on the police block allowing me to drop one set at a time to still give some coverage without blinding oncoming traffic.
We both needed a push start by the end of the night  :|||| but after seeing Wombat off down the highway I went for a leisurely run down the Zigzags again with my friend Barry on his little ninja.
First impression when I put the lights up in the near darkness out there was Oh My Goodness !!!!! The light quality was excellent and very well spread.
Halogens are 55w lights from Ebay I bought a few months back that I put 100w 5500K globes in them.
HIDs are the Sunyee Red 55w 4"

Thanks again Wombat !!!

Saturday morning was up and off to York to meet up with Yorkie to connect the Sena SR10 to the Uniden Radio. The easy part (or so Yorkie made it look) was to bring a wire inside the unit from the speaker to the mic handset attachment. Once this was done we started to run into dramas. Prestige Comms (where I bought the Sena from) did not stock the open ended cable so I just bought one of whatever he had on the shelf. Although in theory this should of worked, the type of cable used an the pin out on the connector were not suitable for our purposes. So after nearly giving up and waiting to order corect cable, we ended up stripping the plug off the old cable and making out own out of some Cat3 phone cable.
Long story short, worked a treat after a couple of hiccups (not mentioning anything about forgetting the collar for the plug end BEFORE crimping the RJ45 on ....  twice ...  by me), we had a working unit.
Tested on the way home and was quite satisfied. Now to work out all the pairing and priorities as today while riding it was cutting off intercom to Trina all the time causing the intercom to disconnect and reconnect. sure I will work it out if given enough time.
My comms gear is Uniden 7700NB, Ground independent Aerial and mount, Sena SR10 Bluetooth Hub, and Interphone F5 Bluetooth Helmet comm.

So once again a really big Thank You  :Chocies to Wombat and Yorkie.
See you both on the road (probably next weekend)

There is an easier way to do that wiring for the SR10, I can show you on Saturday at the RTE. You can test the radio next week as well, I will be leaving Joondalup around 0700, and will sit on 39.

I will be on the Kwinana, so will give a call along the way to see how good the range is. I picked Ray up over about 20 Ks, and his setup wasnt working too well at the time.
