Work horse or show pony?
Mine's for pleasure - and she's really good at it too! - Yours? :whistle
-
Definitely show pony
-
Mostly commuting, but its still a pleasure.
-
For trips mainly. I may use it to go to work more after the car lease runs out or when pay parking is introduced.
-
could we have a button for both :wink1
-
could we have a button for both :wink1
That's what's needed for me. :wht13
-
Then we could all press your buttons Dave :rofl :rofl
-
could we have a button for both :wink1
Same for me, it (will be) an everyday vehicle and ridden for pleasure too.
-
Show pony for me because NSW Ambulance sends me home with an oncall vehicle, and when I am not oncall its only a 10min walk
:slvr13
-
Haha! that's why I put...
Do you do most of your annual ST mileage commuting or for leisure?
... so you fence sitters and undecided would have to consider carefully your ONE vote. :nahnah
It is undeniable that whenever you are riding your :dred11 :wht13 :blu13 :blk13 :slvr13 :rd13 :13Candy :wht11 :bl11 :blk11 - it is a pleasure - but th PURPOSE for the ride is what's required here.
-
Mostly Leasure, Damn Compnay car. i do ride to work when I can get away with it. :runyay :rd13
-
OK, now I'm confused (again) because the ST makes my commute a pleasure. So strictly speaking I use it mainly for commuting.
:rd13 forever!!! :thumbsup
-
Yes the old daily run but even in traffic I would rather be on my ST then in a car.Its always a pleasure. :bl11 :runyay

And after Streak told us off for using big type and everything :P
I ride mine for pleasure... Unfortunately I have a company car which MUST clock over 25,000km per year. So I need to spend waaaayyyy to much time in it.
-
For me my :blu13 is my only vehicle, traded the cage and old bike for it :runyay
So far the mileage is mainly commuting, but everyday I get to ride, and everyday it's a pleasure :thumb :thumbsup :thumbs
-
I don't have a choice because I have to take the one that I am provided to work everyday. :cop

Saves me fuel and tyres money anyway. :rofl :rofl :rofl

Hey Tack....
Youve copied the striping I want for my trailer.... :rofl :rofl :rofl
And thats the external speaker I want for my bike....... :wink1 :wink1 :wink1

That striping seems to fall off shelves around the work shop Brock.
You don't want that speaker Brock, you want the other side. The right is a dummy one that has hardly anything in it and just makes noise, the left one is worth about $2500 because it has the controls and sounds programmed into it. I'm telling you this because I am far enough away from most of you not to have mine stolen. :rofl :rofl
It's a real bugger when the boss says you HAVE to patrols the beach areas off the highway on a patrol. :thumbs
I don't s'pose we could have ride any time soon :grin
All you need to do is find the stickers and ride around yelling EOR-EOR inside your helmet Pete. It's not that far away. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
Sorry forgot I wasn't on the Feejer forum. I'll take a picture of the ST13 that has finally arrived at work for you all to drool over then.
Hey Diesel I believe this is another thread I have hijacked on you >:(). Highjack over now. :CB--
-
I had to work it out but... :think1
I've had the bike about 18 months done over 40,000k's and easily done 10 trips of 2,000k's or more.
So I'm glad to say my bike is mostly used for leisure but always a pleasure. :thumb
-
I Mainly use mine for weekend rides, as i have a work car supplied that i have to use, so day rides and overnights is what i do.

Hey Tack,
correct me if im wrong but that doesn't even look like an ST
-
Its one of them Bavarian things..... :think1 :think1

Its a FJR1300.
Have you boys tried out the GTR14 police bike? I know that we had one on trial in the ACT a while back, but haven't seen any on the road. FJRs seem to be the most popular for the current contract. I have seen various of the police BMW twins out at the bloke who services them, with heads off, pistons lumped out.
-
First registered July '05, currently reading 31,000. You do the maths. I only live 10k's from work, not worth starting the ST for that. Strictly a leisure ride and I'm obviously very short on that rare commodity, Leisure !!!!!! Grrrrrrrr.

Kawasaki had a demo UK GTR1400-P doing the rounds in NSW about 2 months ago. I believe it was the same bike that the Federal police were evaluating. I couldn't get my hands on it. :'( Seemed to get pretty positive reviews......the only bad thing I heard was that the handlebars were a bit too low and this caused some guys to complain of wrist ache when slow riding around town. Regardless, the GTR must've made an impression as there's now talk of a future 50%FJR/50% GTR contract.....I'll believe it when I see it!
-
Mine is strictly a long distance tourer (gave up this work lark four years ago :nahnah). Off to Tassie next week for a three week jaunt!. (Yeah, I know it's tough but someone has to do it!)
Dick B :rd13
-
It feels like I mostly use it for the commute (and what a fun commute it is) but occasionally take it on longer rides.
-
I just use mine for playing, and the bike :blk13
-
i don't have one to ride :'(
-
commute 166km daily
-
Most of my ks are done for pleasure but I do ride to work 4 days a week from the Hawkesbury to Penrith, about a 25 to 30 minute ride - semi rural not much traffic and a real pleasure...does that count? I have had the ST for not quite a year yet and she is heading towards 19000.
-
I do probably a couple of thousand k's commuting the rest is day rides and my annual Snowy Mts, Canberra trip.
I've had the ST a bit over 12 months and did 10,000K's
-
I wish i could commute...it is literally 2 mins from home to work....
-
My ST1300 is my play toy :hatwave
I have ridden to work twice in 7 years only because my daughter
Wanted my car while staying on holiday :grin
-

I`m in the same boat maybe 3 mins. More practical to use the car.
Not sure that I would use it every day in city traffic either. Always enjoy the ride though. :wht11
-
Mines a daily rider unless I have my kids..
I've owned it 8 months now, and have racked up about 13,000km so far, 7300 on the run to the national rally, the rest as a commuter/pleasure bike.. :13Candy
-
My commute is about 3 metres, since I work from my home office.
But my ST is my run-about for work, so it gets a daily outing somewhere around town.
However, no amount of commuting will match the distance I do for pleasure.
-
I wish I could commute, that would mean I was still gainfully employed!!!!
-
At one stage i was doing a 1000ks a week on my old cb400 super four. It was those distances that had me looking for a new bike ..... hence the STeed.
now i have the steed i habe changed jobs and now only do about 150Ks MAX a week ..... kinda wany the 400 back for these little trips .
-
I mainly just pull my 1100 & 1300's apart . . Take off all the plastic to see the bare inards . . Luckily I haven't yet had to strip it any further . . Oil n filter, brake shoes, tyre changes (with Saaz's help - cos he has the tyre changer) apart from adding things that require her clothes to be removed . . . Hmmm
Back to the bike . . Strictly pleasure . . Hmmm. . . Had the 1300 for 18 months and only done 20,000 ks, so been a bit slack . . Lionel does that before breakfast . . . In process of stripping her once again . . . Hmmm . . Adding a McCruise and rationalising wiring for multiple farkles previously installed over thise 18 months . .
Gotta get it ready for the Nambucca Heads FarRide in February . . .

How time flies. I have to change this excuse as I don't have anywhere to commute to. Yesterday was the first time I only did a day ride of 550kms or so. Usually when the bike starts it is off for a few days and a few thousands kms at least.
For trips mainly. I may use it to go to work more after the car lease runs out or when pay parking is introduced.
