Just back in Aus again from Canada and trying to sort out what to do about rides.
Have the KLR650 for local riding in Cairns and light off road forest tracks.
My shoulder is sore still from the last come off thanks to green moss :(
So looking at flipping both rides into something lighter. Considering a Honda CB500x as an all arounder but might be too pricey still.
Anyway - first step is to get a quick sale price worked out on the ST1100.
Well maintained

Rider in Cairns has kept it charged and running - stored indoors. - he's a police officer friend and rode an st1100 on duty..
New rotors and a clutch slave cyclinder. Will pass roadworthy.
Just trying to get a fair value on it early on as I'm here for 3 months. Has current rego good for about 9 months and a single seat kit available thanks to a rider here plus a touring screen.
Still not 100% certain on selling both rides....originally idea was to tour with my kid but he put his money into an Fz8 and we ride together in North America so doon;t really need two bikes here when I'm only around for 3 months of the year.
Help appreciated - will post up in classifieds once I get some price guidance.
1993 st1100 with 80k km on it in good nick.
Paid $4200 for it last year and put about $700 into bits. 1.5" risers, the rotors and clutch slave cylinder.
Lovely ride....my friend says the motor is terrific and now the brakes are sorted ( hot spots ) it's sweet on the highway but I'm finding it a bit of a handful around town and a gnarly shoulder is not going to help
If you know anyone looking willing to make a quick deal and arrange a hookup - ideally in the north but will consider all arrangements. Please PM or email me.
Thanks

Have a good look at what's offering on all the internet sites.
You can use $5000 as a starting point, but because of its age, you'll be heading down from there.
If the timing belt has been done and it's under 150,000 you should be able to get $4500.
The secret is to not hold out more than a month at that price. Drop a hundred and change the advert to "Price Reduced for urgent sale". That will bring in the offers. You might end up with only $4000, but that's probably what it's worth now.

Wow that's now a 20 year old bike :eek

Yup- lovely to ride - motor is incredible on it and clearly had been stored out of the sun.
Thanks for info - really helps
Was hoping it would maintain it's value.

Put it up on Gumtree - got one nibble but he wants to trade to an even older machine!!!!
What other sales venues would people suggest thanks.

ach these bikes are toooooo nice
This morning klr650 started like a champ after a dead battery yesterday and the sun finally came out.
Scampered up the range road in Cairns past Kuranda in a bit of mist and skittish new knobby but stayed mostly dry and scooped the ST1100 from storage in Koah
Love affair with the ST1100 resumes.. :think1..navigated out the dirt and ditch and iffy bridge over the Clohesy I had been worried about - turned out forgot the lappie and wallet in the KLR :||||
Turned around did the bridge ( one of these at the bottom of reasonably steep up and down - not a normal road bike venue

and slippy part again snagged the missing bits and by this time had the first few hundred meters of tense on a big road bike down pat even with a 5 month break from riding.
Last year - first 5 minutes riding the ST EVER, there was a small sand dune of gravel on the other side....bike was calmer about it than I was....sometimes weight helps.
Up the other side this year and out on the pavement and a totally lovely sunny day. Put on 150 k- dry and sunny - hit the fav coffee stops and down the Rex mostly okay tho lost the rear end a bit shifted down too far - but the bike is long and stable ...just waggled a bit. Knew there was a reason I bought it....
Off road riding partner took his daughter out as well since it's been a deluge for the last while ( even for here ).
He want's to take me on this.....says the creek is "deepish: :lmao:
ya think.....this was two weeks ago...yeah that's his front fender underwater....must have a serious snorkel on his 650.

Today however was a creek too far, deep, fast.....same creek - higher water levels.
It's amazing at times in the tablelands - it can be dry as a bone where you are and you come on a creek or river that was a cake walk last week and a raging torrent from some deluge 100 km upstream this week.
Nearly everyone outside the city drives something with a snorkel.

even for crazy Aussies this was too much.
Ken said they barely got their bikes turned around the mud was so thick.
KLR would have been hopeless....I'll wait a few weeks to take him up on the offer. Stick to the higher forest trails and cruising on the ST. ALways spots to explore for photos and the thing has legs to get out a bit further than I've explored.
Shoulder still a bit sore but been 5 months off so expect a few aches and pains especially after that marathon flight.
Saw my down under road riding partner heading the other way on his Burgman - man his glare yellow helmet is sure obvious.
Sorted the heavy traffic round abouts and came home tired but exhilerated - nice to be riding again after a longer than usual lay off.
I'll stay on the pavement for a bit until the wet season is over.....make friends between my back and the ST
