Here is a spotlink of a ride being undertaken on 2x CFMoto 650TK (mini look a like ST1300).......spoke to Karl earlier and after only 500k's he is quiet impressed at the capabilities of the $8,000 bike.
Looking forward to watching Karl (skidoo) & Craig (Wombattle) and the ensuing ride reports on this bike. :thumbsup

Our own Lionel is going on the trip too riding his ST1300. He's OIC photographs and no doubt his lighting will be a big help in the dark time.

-
Skidoo's test bike :clap
Heard the guys mention at Nambucca it is even a Honda colour red on the manufactures label under the seat.

It will be good to get a report when they finish the ride. :thumb
Looks like a great bike at the right price :grin
-
I bought a CFMoto quad bike last June and have nothing but praise for it. Would be very interested in the TK when the 1100 expires.

They will have stopped building them and most of their bikes will have expired, so you'll have to find something else when the ST11 gives up the ghost. :grin

ST1300 Vs. CFMoto 650 TK can be likened to a real hot babe vs. her not so hot friend.....
-
Ride safe and true skidoo and Wombattle .
Keep up the reputation for the wombats Craig :grin

ST1300 Vs. CFMoto 650 TK can be likened to a real hot babe vs. her not so hot friend.....
At my age I am comfortable with the not so hot friend, particulary if she is a lot newer and lighter, doesn't require lots of time and money spent on her, is still comfortable to ride and I am able to pick her up. :nahnah

Riders just crossed into SA after the 4am start in Byron Bay......Overnight in Port Augusta :thumbsup
:beer
-
I am looking to head out and meet them Monday, probably around Merredin.
-
The 3 riders should be back into NSW by 0100 and into bed in Broken Hill looking at finishing around 22:30 Thursday back where they started in Byron Bay....... :-++

at broken hill 10 minutes ago

Sadly Lionel is stuck at Wilcannia with an ST1300 that cranks but won't start. Saaz has been advising. Now waiting for NRMA.
edit to specify which ST he's on today.
Stuck at the Shell since 7:06 this morning Qld time.
-
Sadly Lionel is stuck at Wilcannia ...... :eek
It's ironic that the ST has stopped, but the CFMoto's are going well. Who'd have guessed. Best wishes to all.

I guess we'll have to say the CFs are brand new and something wore out on the ST. It's been going virtually continuously for 5 days!
-
Spoke with Saaz awhile ago......looks bad fuel related, another car came into the servo and fuelled at same bowser and conked out just as it pulled out onto the road......Lionel is doing a tank drain etc as others press on.....Saaz working spread sheet to put Lionel back on track.
Go luck team :thumbsup
:beer
-
A very sweet-looking ST1300 look-alike...the only thing I can see, that I immediately don't like, is the dammed drive chain, why couldn't they have put in a drive shaft not a dammed chain??? Otherwise it is a very nice ST1300 copy
:thumbs
-
If you can, throw some metho in the tanks as well, that will help absorb any water that may be in there, and allow it to burn.
-
Sadly it's been trucked to Cobar.
Maybe once the fuel gets into injector lines it's more than just a tank drain that's needed.
-
BUGGER |-i
-
I bet Lionel is pleased to be out of Wilcannia!
-
It's not the best place to stop even for fuel have to watch your bike with both eyes while you pay for fuel as bits or bike can go missing :-(((
That's a bugger for Lionel going so well
What if they all had fuelled from same pump oh my god that would have been a disaster for the whole trip
Turtle
-
The bike will be looked at properly tomorrow. They drained the tanks as best they could but may not have been enough. I suggested that Lionel go out on the town, but he said he was too stuffed. I am sure he could have made it to Byron and then slept for a day.
-
Just caught up with this, good luck Lionel :wink1
-
:-++ :-++ They have finished :-++ :-++ 22:28 back in Byron.
-
A great achievement, and good to hear everyone is home safe. :clap :clap
-
a great run, look forward to the write up.
-
Excellent work to all involved. :clap
-
Heard from Karl this morning....10,100 K's in 5 days and 18 hours :eek :eek :eek
Bet CFMoto cannot wait to get their hands on these sort of figures.....2 bikes, 20,000 k's over less than 6 days without an issue !!! :clap
Karl calling in here this arvo....will grab some more pics of the little 650cc tacker
:beer
-
Awesome effort by the team! :rockon
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do a Trans Continental... Oh, and then another one! Wot thuh
Someone remarked it was like doing more than 6 SS1600K IBA rides back to back!
Thanks for the update Wom and Karl and Lionel - Very well done indeed. :-++
Can't wait to read the RRs.
Cheers, Diesel
-
Here's saaz's photo of a couple of litres of dirty water drained from Lionel's ST1300.
DO NOT refuel at the Liberty in Wilcannia. There is a BP around the corner on the river side.

Glad the Honda wasn't at fault!

Karl called for coffee and cake on his return home today........the ride report from these guys will be a cracker.
If your in the market for a secondhand bike this one could be a great buy.......only ridden for a week, 12,500 k's by the time it is home :whistle

Pockey you have to love me it's Valentine Days (day of commerce), but Chris told me to type that. :KissBlow
Yes the exhaust might be a problem with that bike, but I'll wait for the RR. :popcorn

Apart from the Chain drive, this looks to be a realistic option for people wanting the lighter bike, or Ladies that sort of thing.
An interesting Review of the 2014 model as well, this fellow used to ride an ST1100, check out this line in the review
Speaking of which, my knees rub on the fairing just as they did on my old Honda ST1100 which was obviously the poster pin-up for the designers when they sketched this model. It even has the same “shark-fin” engine protectors on the sides.

Not that i want one, but you could call it the ST650 and no one would notice....
-
I just caught up on this thread over here. After 10200ks or so in less than 6 days I've become familiar with the bike and actually quite like it. It's too small for me to own long term but in terms of a one up tourer that's lots of fun on the twisties for 8k ride away I would buy one. There isn't an IBA ride that I've done that I couldn't do on this bike, including the BBG. However I'll stick with MYST and STEN for now.
Karl and I had a great time.
