Title: Re: OzSTOC Trophy Ideas
Post by: Sabie on February 20, 2014, 05:29:36 PM
As Brad was an earlier member of OzSTOC, could I propose that we have a perpetual trophy in Brads name the "Brad Bluehonda (surname) award" to be awarded at our annual rallies to an OzSTOC member.

The reason for the award may need some work but I thought something like a member of OzSTOC who has shown the spirit of OzSTOC throughout the year through their help, support etc.

I would further propose that the individual be nominated by members of OzSTOC and decided by the administrators and moderators of the club.

What does everyone think?

I'd back Sabie's idea.  A good way for a person to be remembered.  The little speech that goes with the presentation each year would be a fitting reminder of his ideals.  A suitable trophy with m/c motif and annual plaque, and a mini replica for the annual recipient.  Needn't cost a Beemer.

I think it should be said that any OzSTOCer is eligible for any of these presentations- not being able to be at the Annual Rally doesn't disqualify anyone.  Trophies can be awarded in absentia and carried home by State representatives to be handed over.

This discussion should be moved to its own thread...

Done!

As for the trophies, the current award trophies apply to mainly the rally accept the member of the year, and the encouragement awards.

The member of the year is voted on by all the mods, and it is based on, going above and beyond the call of duty, helping other members, pride in OzSTOC, basically everything that Sabie has mentioned.

This year there where 4 people nominated, and the 2014 member of the year won by 1 vote (no i am not telling who won).

Trophies for this year have already been ordered and engraved, but this is all defiantly good stuff for next year  :thumb

I agree attendance at the Rally isn't a qualifier. We're recognising the members actions or good deeds in the spirit of OzSTOC so their attendance isn't necessary, it'd be nice but not necessary.

I think the other thing to mention is that if there isn't a member worthy of the award in any one year, then it isn't awarded. I think that way it keeps it a prestigious award. However in saying that, there are many worthy members on the list so we should be good for awhile.

Moving this thread also made if difficult to find. I had to run a search for it.

I also like Biggles idea of a shield to be able to place the recipients name and year and a "mini" take home award, as we all know space is at a premium on the bikes and if the recipients can't attend then it's not a huge burden on the club if it has to be freighted or post.

We don't have a clubhouse... where are we going to hang this shield... unless you mean a digital one in its own section of the forums????

This would be a fitting tribute to Brad and something his family members would be pleased to learn of I'm sure.
