Bugger, my Speedo stopped working
What a nuisance, investigations to commence. Strange, it happens just after a front tyre change where a brake caliper bilt was left undone. :||||
-
Mebbe the cable is broken or the cable ends not seated properly in the wheel drive end?
-
I think it may have been a seating problem. I will know when I go for lunch.
Now my fuel calculations will be out.... :||||

Not that you're anal about them or anything... :whistle

Hope it's not the speedo ring that must be in the right position on refitting speedo drive and it's chewed up
Or your ringing that dealer again Brock :OldMan

Probably the cable or the speedo drive.
-
If the speedo drive is buggered, i will certainly be contacting them again.
-
I think your attacking the right end.......bet they over thightened the Phillips head screw that seats the speedo cable and split the plastic moulding :popcorn

It will be the speedo drive as mine has gone again after the front tyre was replaced.
I have contacted David Silver Spares and they have to order them in so hopefully they have.
Will be contacted them again on Friday as I Have ordered 2 along with some other stuff.
Only got 1500 k before it wore out

I had the same happen last time I had the front tyre changed. Speedo cable was snapped about an inch from the bottom end. Mechanic ordered in a new one and fitted for free, I just had to pay for the cable.

That was big of him. It takes about one minute, or three if you lubricate it properly. :thumb

Mystery solved, the metal tongue that goes from the drive to the cable has snapped off. One will not be happy if I have to spend lots of money to fix it.
Just been on the phone to the Honda place, the Manager hadnt been told about the bolt having been left loose, and is not a happy chappy. I guess some one is going to get reamed severely. He is going to get the bit in, and replace it himself, he is also going to talk to the boss about the cost to me. (hopefully none).

Hadn't heard of that before. Sounds like someone was ham-fisted with the installation.
-
It does sound like that dont it......
-
I would have expected a few other things to break before the metal tang, as the gears inside are the weakest bit.
-
I was certainly surprised that it was broken. The service manager was not a happy chappy, didnt try to fob me off either.

new drive arrived yesterday, fitted today. Now I know how fast
i'm going again.

Honda paid for it...
