Hi All,
Lurked for a bit before joining. Hey it seems like a friendly place and very helpful so why not.
Central Coast NSW - 1982 CB900C rider here, not an oz bike, it was only a dream when I was riding back in the 80s. So when I saw one for sale in Sydney a few years ago I had to hand over the cash to ride one for a while. It's an imported jobbie from the US. Somebody back then thought it would be fun to put a bold'or 900CC sports motor in a frame & mate it to a GL1100 rear end. 36 on the clock since it was imported and speedo changed to km/h. Not as pretty as she could be with 30 yo chrome pitting a bit and who at Honda thought chrome would stay stuck to alloy? But she is still stupid fast for a sports tourer and I think it's the only one here, in NSW at least.
Nick is because I have 7 kids, 6 at home, the eldest 4 at home ride with me (not at the same time, this is Australia) and the last 2 can hardly wait.
Anyway, ideally I'm after a 1300 at the right price but an 1100 would be quite ok. Unfortunately the CB has to go if I do, my darling wife says I only have one bum and can therefore only sit on one bike but hey, I can cope with that.
Any advice on a 11 or 1300 purchase, offers on the CB welcome.

Welcome!
thanks for joining, if we can help you find a bike let us know! many of us ahve sold bikes, and bought bikes with the help of other members test riding and inspecting bikes that we cant get to see.
and the great part about buying one away from home, is that you get to fly or bus it up to the bike and ride it home :thumb

Thanks all, I'm not even on one yet and you're still making me welcome.
Seriously though, I've been toying with the idea for about 12 months now.
I've sat on alot of different bikes in that time and can say that ridiculously expensive beemers aside, the ST is the only bike I feel as comfortable on as the CB900C. Everything from cruisers (but I really can't do a v-twin with a speedo on the tank) to road rockets, love the idea of an old blackbird but I'm not young or stupid enough to tie myself up like a pretzel any more.
So considering that I need a bike to a: get me to work, b: cart shopping and kids around on and c: escape on weekends with it's also the only bike that will cater for all 3 without a great deal of compromise.
Have I hit the nail on the head right?
Anything I'm missing, any sore points?
I think I've got it right but it's nice to know other's opinions.
thanks again
FoM

Welcome On In Ralph :clap Go the ST1300. Its a workhorse that help you get the chores done, but with a smile on your face at the same time :grin

Shopping is easy, with two large panniers, and a top box, you can carry o lot of chips/bikies and a carton of beer(with ice). :beer :beer
Kids?? one on the back seat, and if they are small enough then panniers and yop box take care of three more :grin
To and from work is the easiest, a fun way to travel and use less fuel than a car.
