Title: New ST1300's
Post by: Williamson on April 22, 2014, 08:30:11 PM
Talked to a couple of North Islander bikers when in NZ last week.  They mentioned the ST1300 is still available in NZ.  Got home, found this:
http://www.motorcycletrader.co.nz/detail/motorcycles/motorcycles/honda/st1300-abs/76142 (http://www.motorcycletrader.co.nz/detail/motorcycles/motorcycles/honda/st1300-abs/76142)

Some (many?) will ask if Honda NZ can source these, why can't Honda Aus?

Bigger Q though why would you want to pay $27K for one when a late S/H one is $12K?
Does beg the question why are they still available there, but not here???????????????????????????????? :wht11

Not sure I understand that>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I wonder why they had so many black ones, considering once you've gone black you'll never go back.

Some will always buy new, regardless of second hand prices - I have a brother-in-law that will not buy s/h.

Not sure what on the road costs are like in NZ (perhaps others will advise?), but if anything like Aus the listed ST1300, plus Honda top box and heated grips would be over $28K on the road.

I'm happy with the $18K I paid for mine new last August, especially as it's Black - Aye Marcus?

At the York M/C festival last weekend I spoke to the guys from The Hondashop about this, they seem to think it is because our emission regulations are too much over the top, however they did say if Honda get interest from 300 or more it will be looked at and Ozstoc is in a position to do this.

From memory NZ accepts various overseas standards to allow for the sale of new vehicles in NZ, hence a lot of grey imports into NZ. Australian batches have to meet Australian design standards. Emissions should not be much of a factor as European and Californian standards are ahead of what Australian requires by a few years.  But at that sort of pricing it would be a hard ask to sell the ST13 against improved versions of the GTR14 and FJR13, especially as Honda just refuses to add a few improvements to the electronics and suspension package that would make the ST13 a very competitive bike for some years to come.

Don't you know?  In New Zealand the riders prefer white bikes, because it reminds them of their girlfriend's snowy white fleece...

And, on  a slightly different note - I always thought it was "Once you've gone black, you'll never stop cleaning it"

From the owner of a freshly washed and polished black ST1300...

...... once you've gone black you'll never go back.

Which reminds me of a line in a recent episode of Two and a Half Men I watched on the Air New Zealand flight back from NZ.

This was when Alan's (lesbian) neice takes a break from 'entertaining' a girlfriend in the bedroom to take an appliance out of a kitchen drawer.  The appliance was a large electrical item with egg beaters / mixers attached.  Walden comments (something along the lines off), "Once you've gone Black & Decker, you never go back."  :Whipped :Whipped :Whipped

Well I thought it was funny ................ ;-*

My experience with Black & Decker is that once you've brought Black & Decker, you'd never buy Black & Decker again.
