Post by: redrider on April 29, 2014, 04:12:17 PM
Hi Chris. Am about to fit fender extender to the 1300, Can I glue it instead of using screws?. If so what type of adhesive is best?. Thanks

Most fender extender suppliers recommend a Plumbers style of adhesive......I choose to use Stikaflex to allow some movement if required, how ever I did use 2 small S/S self tappers at the rear of the guard......just the boyscout still in me  :fp

I just used silicon/silastic.

I took the guard off ( easier to work with) and used some small G clamps and pieces of wood to prevent damage. Balsa wood would be excellent. Just do the clamps up firmly, and allow the silicon to set over night. Use masking tape (the green stuff at Bunnings) around the lips to stop unwanted mess.

Mine has been on for years now, and is still rock solid.
