Hi. A brief introduction. First of all, I am not an ST rider, but I happen to know quite a lot of them (how? that's another story).
I live in Rotterdam, Holland, unmarried, no kids, try to earn a living as an IT consultant. My 2nd profession is glamour photography (http://huizinga.eu (http://huizinga.eu)) but that doesn't pay the bills.
I've had my m/c driving license since I was 18. At the time, I couldn't afford a car so I got me a Heinkel scooter. Later, I had a HD Liberator of WW2 vintage - which I totalled in heavy rain. My 2 wives never wanted me to ride so I had a 30 years break from m/c riding.
After divorcing my 2nd wife in 2002 I bought a BMW Cruiser. It's taken me through a large part of Europe but there's still a lot of places on my wish list (bucket list?).
I am privileged to attend most BritSToc events since 2005 or so. They put up with me as long as I ride at the tail. ;)
I'm also one of the admins of www.my-mc-phoenix.com (http://www.my-mc-phoenix.com), the follow-up of my-mc.com after STeinar discontinued that site.
Why did I register here? Because some of my good friends are regulars. Hope you're okay with that.

Hi there Pieter :Blow Glad you made it across here along with some others. I am supposedly partly running this show, so shows what sort of place it is :eek and why I am a bit quiet at times over at my-mc. I am sure you will enjoy having a read of what is going on down here.

G'day and welcome Pieter from the south coast of NSW, "New Holland".
Nice bike there (we call them BMTroubleU's for fun sometimes, however many are fine machines for sure).

I notice your English is quite amazing for a Dutchman - how did that come about?
(BTW your name "Pieter" could easily be pronounced "Pie Eater" - here in OZ that is very special!) :thumbs

We may very well have a nickname ready-made here! You'll have to visit Oz Pieter and we'll see if you can live up to the name. You might need to be briefed on Oz humour before you come... :grin

Why, thank you kindly sir! Actually most Dutch folks have a reasonable command of English. I put that down to television - it gets subtitled here, not dubbed. And English is mandatory in high school here. Also in my business (IT) the lingua franca is English. And I worked for GE. So I got lots of practice.

I'm afraid Peter Mallon beat you to that... The Dutch vowel "ie" is pronouced as the "e" in English (the "e" as "a"). Don't think about it too much, it was all done by design in order to intimidate the uninitiated. :grin
