I'll definitely have to do this one.

Kyogle is my home town!  :grin

As a child I used to play at the family home of the property where Ripples is now located.

What a coincidence Gary  :thumbsup My brother and his family has lived at Kyogle for the last 30 years, you will be able to tell us all about the area, we will go to the Sunshine Coast after lunch to then go to the QLD RTE the next day.

Pockey,

Have you guys got somewhere to stay that night?

It's a nice ride from my place to the Pit Stop Cafe (the longish way).  :grin

I grew up at The Risk (southern end of the Lions Road).  The road across from The Risk Public School was named after my Grandfather and My Great Uncle and one of my friends were in the Lion's Club and drove the Dozers that built the Lions Road.

Yes thank you Gary, we have a bed arranged for that night, then after the Pit Stop we are going to the Bunya Mountains I believe.

And thanks for the little history lesson on the name for the Lions road  ++

On the Lions Rd there is a Lookout which used to be able to see the Border Loop before the trees grew back.  There is a short walk where you can get to see this engineering marvel.

The border Loop is where the Train Line from NSW loops through a couple of tunnels to go over it self to gain enough height to go through the tunnel through the McPherson Range into Qld.

The Lookout is a nice place to stop and listen to the Bellbirds too. Bell Birds of Australia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0Gm59m4jbQ#)

http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/border-ranges-national-park/border-loop-walk/walking (http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/border-ranges-national-park/border-loop-walk/walking)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cougal_Spiral_(railway) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cougal_Spiral_(railway))

Some of my ancestors came from Qld to NSW to help build the Railway and work in the local Timber Mills.

STroppy and I did the Lions road on the way to Yeppoon. It needs concentration as it has the most single lane bridges in a road I have come across.  Oh, and a few blind crests that are fun, just watch for the cows on the other side.  Next time I will do it in tourist mode, a lot slower and look around.

Please count Marissa and I in for this one. The Lion's road is Marissa's favourite piece of riding paradise.  :thumb

Not that cement, but the driveway is next to redo once all the building stuff has stopped. None of this slippery grass into the garage that some have  :Whipped

You make an excellent point  :think1

My grassy slope leading into my shed can be a challenge when it's wet. Maybe you could fill your panniers with any left over cement and make a donation to my future driveway on your way though  :thumb

Sadly the venue will close on the 7th October.  :-[ If you have a spare $1.2M this little piece of paradise is for sale.

Thanks Barry for the scenic route on the way there and back.  Thank you every one for your company again.

Thanks to Chris, Jean and Saaz for popping in to my place for a cuppa on the way to Diesel's.  Thanks to Shiney and Carrol for joining them.

We knocked out a couple of RTE's this weekend  :runyay

This ride to Ripples on the Creek on the Lions Rd near Kyogle had us leave home in 4 degrees at 7am and land for lunch in 23 degrees and 565k's  :hatwave

Fantastic little business that is unfortunately closing the cafe side but retaining then cabins across the road.
