Hopefully it works for you.

I checked NSW, Vic and SA ride calendars before I posted and also the Broken Hill Ulysses calendar as they go there every four or five weeks and their ride is on the 21st.

Hmmm  :think1 :think1 :think1 Just over 1600 km from Brisbane.  Could be a good training run for OzSTOC SS1600k.  I'll have to see closer to the date.

I like saaz's idea of going from Inverell to Silverton.

I thought I had best actually look at ways to get there. I probably will go back to Canberra then leave Friday to go. Around 1150kms one way so I think I will go to Mildura then to Silverton on way there, then come back Cobar way.  More of the same for this poor set of tyres.

I already have requests for mad max related pictures...

Alan, I have the rear wheel orings for you - make sure I remember to pack them!

Are you staying at Penrose Park? If so I will either book something or bring the new swag I got off Growly (hope it does not smell too much!)

How much for the O rings? So I can get some cash before I get there.

We're staying in the park and having tea over at the hotel after we go and watch the sunset (if cloud free skies) from the lookout. For a change we booked a room on (08) 80 885307 instead of taking the tent but we'll still need to take bed gear with us so we'll still need to take the trailer.

Sorry for the late notification... I will also be there as I have been able to manipulate the work roster...(sort of!)

Last time I was involved in this RTE Overnight, I nearly came to grief with an amorous emu on the way back home so I will be hoping for no sequel... :blu13

And I had a similar event on the way there just before the border. I saw the ones beside the road but nearly didn't see the one in the centre of the lane in front of me.

I can't make this one - but will pencil in the date for next year.

Silverton (and getting there) is quite an adventure, and the Mad Max Museum is very interesting. The owner, Adrian, is very approachable and friendly.

I ended up riding straight home to the Sunshine Coast from there last time. (1700kms). Said I'd stop when I'd had enough....

Had a 20min kip at Millmerran, which recharged the batteries enough for the last leg home!

Fantastic night had at the hotel too - well worth a beer or two while you look around at all the films that have been made out that way, and used the Pub in them.

Enjoy everyone!      :Blow

Cheers, Diesel

I was hoping you 'local' guys might come out of the woodwork. My basic ride plan is Canberra to Mildura for an overnight, then on to Silverton for a leisurely look around.  I have not been that way up towards Broken Hill so want to have a look. The way home may be Cobar-Nyngan way as I don't mind out there.

But basically I will be making it up as I go along   :think1 but have to plan around going to Renner Creek in NT so can't dawdle too much as new tyres may have to go on.

I seriously doubted if we'd make this with me having a viral infection. Earlier today I filled the bike, connected the trailer and did all the usual pre-ride checks. I'm not yet 100 percent yet but okay for a casual 300 km ride and looking forward to not looking at the bedroom walls like I've been doing for most of the last week.

I got back at 5.30 this afternoon. Great to meet Alan and Heather at last after the first go a few years ago on a Border Run. Rick and +1 (I am bad with names - on a Busa) and Malcolm we also there. Pictures will come later once I do a few things.

We got back home about 2 pm after a very windy ride.

The +1 with Rick is Michael. I did hear his name mentioned but I still had to ask Heather.

Apart from a non members red Suzi, the three STs and John's Triumph were all BLUE.  :Stirpot and more  :Stirpot , 1 from ACT, 3 from Vic and 2 from SA having an RTE overnighter in NSW with not one NSW member in sight..........lol

Heather decided that we like John's new bike even though I did sort of mention it only had 3/4 of a motor. It looks a lot better in the flesh than the pictures we have seen and it's a little larger but lighter than the ST.

Yeahhhhh... VICTORIA

The ride must now be officially known as a Victorian Ride  :Stirpot considering we had the most participants :runyay

Seriously though... It was great to catch up with you all at South Australia..(Alan & Heather) :beer

Nice read thanks Alan - sounded like a great relaxing weekend away on the bike.

That is special country out that way - probably not to be done in Jan-Feb if one is at all sensitive to the adverse effects of heat.

I remember the lookout at Mundi Mundi was quite treacherous for a big bike on that slippery gravel surface - one had to show plenty of care turning around on it  >:() - but well worth the effort.

Thanks for the great read.     ++

PS - Hi Wildfire Angel          :hatwave

The only downer was after getting back home.

While unloading the trailer a gust of wind caused the lid to close in doing so broke the front hinge. So down to the hardware and see if I can find something suitable and replace both.
