Title: NSW RTE Idea's for 2016
Post by: Abe on June 17, 2014, 06:34:18 AM
I have volunteered to be Ride coordinator for NSW and to keep the RTE threads up to date, try to come up with a few RTEs for the year, carry some OzSTOC merchandise and help out where I can.

I will also do some mid week options for shift workers.

So OzSTOCers:

    What ideas have you got?
Where would you like to go, that you haven't been before?
Where would you like to return to?
What over nighters do you think could be interesting/entertaining?

Looking forward to hearing some ideas.

Thanks

The Royal NP between Sydney & Wollongong was great if there is a cafe in that area  :think1

The cafe a Scarborough right on the water is a ripper.

I did a nice ride down there 6 weeks ago down through the National Park out to Bundeena  along the coastt to Wollongong up Maquarie Pass down Kangaroo Valley over Cambewarra to Berry Stayed in some nice cabins at Geroa. Back through Jamberoo Valley to Robertson, Bowral home along the freeway to the Hunter Valley.

A couple of nice days riding except for the Sydney bit.

When we lived in Sydney we often went to the Royal National Park for a family drive and would stop here for a Morning Tea or Lunch stop.  Don;t know if it still operates as a cafe, but if it is its worth it for the visiting wildlife.

The boat hire there was also quite good fun too.  Took the wife and kids for a pleasant and very relaxing row boat ride there.

Your States RTE Co-Ordinators have their planning underway for next years OzSTOC RTE calendar  :hatwave.....if you have a recommendation for a RTE that encompasses a great ride with a top notch destination post your ideas and experiences of a suitable location here for them to consider.

Residing in Kempsey, I know the area only too well.
Was there yesterday with friends from Sunshine Coast - they were astounded at the scenery of the area, the service at the Kiosk with views across trial Bay to South West Rocks and beyond to Yarrahapinni Mountain and north towards Stuarts Point, Grassy Heads and Nambucca Heads.
Viewing from the verandah dining area at the Kiosk, you look west across Trial Bay which is one of the few beaches on the east coast of Australia which face west.
Take your time, smell the roses and tour the Historic Trial Bay Gaol - about two (2) hours for a minimal fee ($7 Pension)
Let me know and I may be able to meet up at BP Clybucca Service Station.

Malacoota is a nice ride and can be an overnighter . . For the SE New South Welschman and NE Victorians?

Pockey/Abe,

I thought South West Rocks would make a great overnighter for SE Qld/NSW.

Seems like all the rides keep getting closer to the coast. We have some great roads and fantastic people out here west of the Great Divide you know. Not to mention quite a few ST's as well. Found a new ST owner in Dubbo at the Ulysses toy run. Gave them a card but havent seen them on as yet.

Looking at the calendar, there doesn't seem to be anything mid year for xmas  midyear.

My suggestion is an overnighter to Gulargambone  NSW  ( halfway between Gilgandra and Coonamble ) on June 27/28 as a mid year xmas. Its not as cold here as Uralla and the days are balmy at that time of year. There is a beautiful caravan park here with 6 cabins available ( most sleep at least 3 ) and very nice camping sites.  We have options for Sat night meals/Sun morning breakfast, either catered by the caravan park or by the local Lions Club.

There are a few relaxing rides in the area, the Warrumbungle national park is only 40 or so kms away, Dubbo zoo is 120kms away and there are any number of great country rides/pubs to visit.

I have floated the idea with the caravan park and they are more than happy to see as many OzSTocers as we can muster.

Anyway, there's my idea/suggestion. I will see what the response is like and liaise with Abe to see if we can get it going.

I think this one is a definite goer, as we need more events out that way. Very good rides into the area from all over.

I was going to do something about a visit to the Temora Aviation Museum last year or the year before, but was too slack, so maybe now is the time to look at potential interest and dates.

http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au/vistor_information/group_information/index.html (http://www.aviationmuseum.com.au/vistor_information/group_information/index.html)

The fly days are excellent, and there is a calendar of dates and which aircraft will be flying on their website, so is it worthwhile looking at having an overnighter there?

4th of April would be great (Fighters, including 2 jets) but for a clash with the Broadford Bike Bonanza :'(

They do have a few other shows  :think1

What date suits you ??
Title: Re: NSW RTE Idea's
Post by: atoyot on January 24, 2015, 07:38:09 AM
Pretty much any others suit me, as my calendar is now almost empty, but considerations would be dates that don't include June, July and August, for those who might be travelling either early or late, as it might be too cold for some (not for me of course).

Just looking at the NSW RTE list, maybe either May or October, as they have decent fly days on May 2 and 16th, as well as October 3 and 17th. Any of those would suit me, but what about others?

There is plenty of accommodation around, but leading the charge would be perhaps the Terminus Hotel and the cabins at the airport itself, but that only from a quick look around.
