Leave it to the Israelis. This is so wonderful. I wish every country would do this. What other country's military would have a program like this?
Great in Uniform (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZC42c8lMqg#ws)
THIS IS A LESSON THE REST OF THE WORLD COULD LEARN, LOOKING INTO THE FACES OF THESE YOUNG ONES SHOWS THE PLEASURE OF BEING ACCEPTED.

A great good news story.
A very pleasant change from hearing the anti-Jewish hatred that seems to predominate the airwaves. ++

:like This is a great idea, it will give all that are involved a chance at some normality in their lives. ++ :clap :clap ++

A great story, giving dignity, purpose and acceptance to those in a community who often have little of any of those values. :-++

Fantastic, what a shame we don't have something similar! :thumbsup

The clip is interesting and demonstrates that even today, with all the issues Israel has, they still invest in every Israeli citizen, and all are greatly valued for thier contribution big or small...
I immigrated to Israel with my family in 1975 and lived there for 26 years.
I spent 4 years in the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) Armored corp. and an additional 13 years in the reserves (compulsory, 45 days per year).
The IDF is a very unique military, as the entire country is a part of it.
All boys do 3 cumpolsary years and the girls do 2 years sevice at the age of 18 after year 12.
on discharge the boys are then re-drafted to the reservist corp. to the age of 45 (combatant) or 60 (non combatant)
Coincidental that juSTpeter posted an article on Israel yestrday as a very sad day today, the 3 Israeli teenagers were found dead, killed by Hamas terorists.

Many thanks for the "first-person" insight, zevk.
The irony that I see is, those murderous zealots who killed the teenagers, and whose side most of the world seems to be on, would be highly unlikely to be associated in any way with a similar humane project in the Muslim "camp".

so true Biggles...
Golda Meir (the first female prime minister of Israel) said long ago,,,,
"... We will only have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.”
this is the escence of the middle east "problem", the extremist have no regard for human life whatsoever. I have wittnesed this first hand unfortunatly... :'(

It was coincidental too Zev, as I was unaware of the three boys' fate.
My apologies for that.
-
No need for apologize Peter, thanks for the article, it was uplifting.
More hard times ahead for the tiny (1/3 the size of Tasmania) state of Israel, with Palestinians now rejoicing on social media, the murder of three innocent teenage civillians... :'(

I feel they're going to pay dearly though!!!

What an inspirational program :clap :like
