Title: New to the forum - loving my ST1300
Post by: PommieRider on July 07, 2014, 09:22:59 PM
Hi there

I'm relatively new to the ST1300 world having owned mine second hand since October. I've had a couple of decent rides including one down to Bright with a few friends. What can I say, it's a fantastic ride. I love my bike!

I was thinking about making a few mods - the first I did was to get a custom seat made by Mick (MJM) - good value that. I'd like to get a 12V socket set up and also a mount for an iphone. If you guys have any suggestions on both these points I would be glad to hear them. Also trying to figure out the best tyre pressure - can't find anything in the book...

I had some luck getting smudges and scratches out of my screen using the NOVUS plastic polish.

I'm keen to meet other riders and discover more of Australia by bike. Feel free to reach out :o)

I heard about this forum randomly parking next to a chap called Paul in Canberra (apparently chums with Diesel) who handed me one of the cards. Small world I guess.

Glad you are here.

Welcome Pommierider,
MJM seat  ++
Tyre pressure 42psi front and back
RAM mounts for your iphone, see preferred suppliers on home page (discount)
12v in one of the glove boxes/ pie warmers

That's itin a nut shell, but more members will comment.
Happy reading

Welcome to OzSTOC Pommie. you come to the moST infomative place for ST's whether they 1100 or 1300's.  :think1 tyre pressures are important and I believe moST run 42 in both.
there's answer for everything here or juST ask and someone will come along with an answer or link..  there's plenty of RTE's :eat for you to meet up with other OzSTOCers. :thumbsup

Welcome!
You'll find the answer to almost any ST question by using the Search button at the top of the page.
Thanks for the tip about Novus polish.  I'll have to try it on my scratched visor.

Hi PommieRider and Welcome to OzSTOC.  On the Forum for under ten minutes, and already some of your questions have been answered.  :thumb

Abe has nailed the pressures.....  consistent and correct pressures will extend your tyre life.
Mr Sheen will keep your screen, fairings and chrome looking nice.

Welcome On In PommieRider  :clap

Re tyre pressures you may want to try a higher rear pressure - Say 44 to 48 PSI if you are loaded up, carrying a pillion or towing a trailer or all 3 - To give you better rear tyre wear  :wink1

Thank you all for the quick replies and tips. I will have a look at RAM mounts. I was thinking of sourcing a Haynes manual and doing the electrical extension myself. I'm a newb to that also so may reach out for help.

Look forward to meeting some of you on the next ride out. Please let me know which forum to link to so I get notified.

Cheers

Matt

Matt - Depending on where you live you need to go to the RTE's ( Ride To Eat) link for your State or nearby State and then click on the ride that will suit you.

Thanks for the extra tips. I had a look at RAM mounts and am unclear on which mount is appropriate for the St1300 - they seem to have a different mount recommended for the ST1300 V the PanEurpean which i thought was the same bike. Then migsel do a different type of mount, higher up that attaches to the fairing but crazy prices

Anyone done this before? I mean, actually installed one? Care to share a photo?

Matt

Welcome to the zoo PommieRider.

I have the same set-up as Shiney but mines on the other side as I have my GPS on the left. They sell mounts for GPS's too.
