Title: New member SOR WA
Post by: JohnoJ on February 01, 2012, 07:29:48 PM
Hello
I have been on this site looking over it the last few months and today I became a member to view every thing.
I ride a ST1100p still white. I have had it for about 8 years. I was going to change it to a "Thunderbird" but as I am a Honda rider from when I was able to ride I could not change.
I travelled the Great Eastern regularly when I lived in Kalgoorlie but now now live in Perth. A lot more to places to ride now.
I also have a GL1000 which I have had since new.
I will update further later on as I get used to using the forum.

Welcome Johno. Another for the WA record books, and with a fast ST as well.

As you have been checking the forums for a while, you will be aware that we are a light hearted bunch who are no afraid of taking a friendly dig at each other. Especialy those who ride non white STs and those east of the border.

Welcome!  I am also interested in the GL1000.  Some of those GLs share parts like timing belts with the ST11.  I remember that the GL1000 used to look really big, but these days thaey look quite compact.  I still have my 1978 GS1000 Suzuki which I have owned since 1980.

 And I ride a

Welcome Johno. Another westie. Um. This is developing into real "sibling' rivalry. This used to be the domain of Qld V NSW but that's a non event on this forum. Sorry Pete.
Glad I can't make it to the National Meet. I might be hung, drawn and quartered.
Cheers. Skip.

G'day Johnno - great to talk to you tonight - I see you've solved the 'bloody pin ain't workin' dillemma.    :rofl :rofl

Boy, I tell you, if you go out to a RTE with the Westies, normal folks are gona think CHOGM is back on with all those 'P' versions!     :eek :eek

They're a great bunch and you'll really get the cost of joining this site back within a few posts.

Did I mention we all like pics? Post often ol mate - instructions for everything are on the "New Members" pages - or PM me.

Lastly - like I tell everyone - check back on the older posts as there are quite some gems in there to enhance your ST riding experience!

Thanks for the intro Johnno - enjoy!     :thumb

Cheers, Diesel

From the urban dictionary:

    Sandgroper
A person from the state of West Australia - the largest and most important state in Australia. Sandgropers are well-known for being taller, healthier and better-looking than other Australians. Moreover, they are characterized by high intelligence.

Who writes this stuff?? :cuss

Besides all that guff, welcome aboard Johnno. You'll enjoy the experience :)

Cheers,
Peter.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Now, what you have to do is buy an OzSTOC shirt, wear it and get into a photo with LOTS of other WA members because those bendovers bananabenders seem to think that they have a chance of taking the World Record away from us  :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Enjoy your ride here and develop a thick hide, you'll need it. |-i

Diesel,

I'm on the verge of ordering a new shirt for me and one for the lovely Kwan. I may also need to order a replacement OzSTOC sticker for the pannier as they don't know yet if they will need to replace the pannier after the prang. I will have to get some more cards (still have a few left) as I'm handing them out and leaving them on bikes every chance I get.

So far the quote is just in excess of $4,000.  :'(

I was riding up the Forrest Highway/Kwinana Freeway a couple of weeks back and saw another white 1300. I rode up beside him/her and tried to flag him/her over to let him/her know about the club but he/she motioned that he/she was speaking on the phone and kept riding. I tried this about 3 time (Jeez, he/she could talk) and each time I got the same response. Not long after we went our separate ways. Don't know if he's/she's already a member here. If he/she is, just to let him/her know that that was why I was trying to get him/her to pull over, no other reason.

Do we have any female members yet?

I'll get back to you as soon as I know what's needed.

Take care, stay out of the rain  >:()

Pity you wern't on your other bike they would have had to pull over then  :law

Yeah, can you imagine riding along, minding your own business, enjoying the ride and the next thing you see is a Police bike behind you, with lights and siren going, motioning for you to pull over.

You stop, get your licence out with trembling hand, wondering what it is you've done wrong, and the copper walks up, opens his wallet and hands you an OzSTOC card and starts chatting about shirts, badges and the club.

You wouldn't be listening to him, you'd be thinking............................. WHO IS THIS TOSSER. HERE I AM SH1TTING       MYSELF AND HE'S TRYING TO GET ME TO JOIN HIS CLUB................ BASTARD.

I'd love to do it, just to see the look on their face. Unfortunately I'm still on 'Sick Leave' and even when I get back, they've moved all the bikes to another section so from then on it looks like I'll be stuck in a car.........Aah well.

Take care all,

Dave R                                                                     :wht13
