I believe you need to brake quite hard to pull them up as there's very little engine friction.

They might incorporate regenerative braking like in the Prius.  That would help.

They didn't say how long the batteries last with all the radio/lights going. Be embarrassing the be chasing some 'felon' with bells and whistles going and slowly coasting to a stop.   :grin
