Title: Introduction of a new member, "MUF"
Post by: muf on September 12, 2014, 12:28:27 PM
Hi people, I would like the opportunity to introduce myself, sorry I am unable to pose photos at this time as I am still learning the ins and outs of windows 8.1 along with the full system, but I will get my hands around it, I joined the NSW Police Force in 1970 and by the end of that year I was attached to Special Traffic Patrol in Sydney, started off with the old 650 triumph, after 20 years riding Police cycles I was transferred to car crew {bugger} anyway, I retired 5 years ago and have taken up a hobby of restoring motorcycles, just completed a 1983 Goldwing Aspencade  but found it was too heavy for me at 845 kilo that beauty was sold to a collector from South Sydney and I have replaced it with a year 2000 ST1100 that is currently stripped in the shed, still have another cycle to ride though , in 1980 I purchased a CB900 Boldo"r and its been treated like a family member ever since with just on 90 thousand on the clock. looking forward to conversing with other members in the future, Regards, Muf

Hi Muf,

Welcome from SA.

I'm using 8.1 on our laptop but if it's causing you to many hassles take a look at the link. http://www.classicshell.net/ (http://www.classicshell.net/)

This emulates a WIN7 or similar environment and you can switch from one to the other anytime.

G'day and welcome muf.  :hatwave

I use this to get Windows 8.1 to work a bit more like regular windows.

http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/ (http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/)
start8 gives you back the old Start button and the ability to always boot to the desktop.

http://www.stardock.com/products/modernmix/ (http://www.stardock.com/products/modernmix/)
Modernmix gives you the x button to close modern apps and also the ability to window them on the desktop, and pin them to the Desktop as well.

Howdy Muff. I still have my 78 GS1000 Suzuki I bought in 1980. It did have an engine rebuild and upgrade at 80,000kms or so, up to 160,000 when I parked it to ride the 1996 ST1100.  It is on my 'to do' list to ride for a few months of the year after I put a gasket kit through it.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I notice other old toys out there being from the Suzuki family as the case may be, I do hold a passion for older classic motorcycles cause no doubt they changed history in the way cycles were designed to both handle and perform since the early 1970s, looking forward to conversing with a lot of you in the future, including local rides, Kind Regards, MUF
