I build and repair computers for friends, its just a hobby, and I do it for the cost of parts. Saves friends a lot of cash, because some computer sharks charge the earth to fix simple problems. Have a laptop here which I have just overhauled, and ready to post back tomorrow to a friend in Condon, Townsville. Delivered a new system to friends in Gippsland just a few weeks ago, saved them around $300 below their local store price.
... if I feel creative, I make animated .gif jokes and short video clips to email around, and post in various forums.
... and I collect movies. 12 Terrabytes of them.
Nothing bugs me more than to sit down in front of the TV, and have a 90 minute movie extended to 2 and a quarter hours with fill in commercial breaks.
I currently have around 9000 movies, all genres, all years, the oldest being a yippedy cowboy flicker dated 1903, complete with piano music.
Nothing unusual for me to sit up half the night and watch many episodes of a popular TV series, or a few action movies, or animated Disney.

I might bring my WIN 7 all in one HP desk top with me when I go to Nelson and you can give me an idea if it's worth fixing or not.
Local computer shop was looking at Charging around $400 to fit a new 500GB hard drive. First up was a $50 find the problem fee which would come off the fixing cost should I go ahead and repair it.
Computer was all ok when I went to bed and refused to start the next morning. Luckily I had the start up disc but it was awfully slow. Computer been in spare room for last four/five months and I had a crash course in using this WIN8.1 laptop I'm now using.

No problems, Alan... New double size (1 TerraByte) hard drive is only a quarter of the price quoted, and I have the facilities here to recover 90% of the old drive contents, if its still running.
Hard drive is a 5 minute job to fit, but takes a few hours to setup OS and programs
