Title: 3D Printed Cars
Post by: JuST Peter on October 09, 2014, 08:25:42 PM
This might take a while to load but well worth the wait

The writer said "I went to the IMTS- International Manufacturing  Technology Show in Chicago last week for work and saw they were started to print this car with the goal of having it completed and drivable by the end of the week. There was a booth in the middle of the hallway where the CNC robot was laying down the material. Pretty neat."

This technology is developing at an amazing rate.                                                                                                           It's only a little while ago we were impressed by printers making little items out of paper-like material.
Then they made a gun.
And now a car!!
I'm assuming the process in the video was sped up, but it's also possible the printer lays down the material that quickly.

Wont be long, before a car service will be just running your bootleg cad data and printing a new one.

I have seen a video some where of an engine that was printed in one piece and actually rotated. It was in plastic, so couldnt run..

I've been playing around with 3D printers for a while now and they are truly amazing. I built my first one several years ago - and it still works!

I ve notice that there are fora (plural for forum) where you can get / down load cad packages to print your own parts to build a printer. To me its a chicken egg thing. If you all ready have a printer, then you dont need the paarts and if you need the parts then obviously you are no longer able to print them..

I have a headache now, I think I will go to bed..

In many respects, they are self replicating machines. Many of the parts for my printer were made on an almost identical printer.

Let's make it like that concept one we were drooling over.  And it will have a nice LED digital display, won't it?

 :thumbsup

The panels should be liquid crystal so you can dial up the colour you want - Perhaps a different colour for each day of the week.  :Blow
