Staintunes, highway pegs, tow bar, fender exteder, 97,000 kms in QLD some where, ex Ulysses bike. One would have thought they would wash the dirt off the back wheel before posting a photo of the Staintunes

I'd prefer the OEM pipes as they look better than aftermarket ones, well I think they do.

I see it also has an OZSTOC sticker on the screen, one of ours???
Seems strange the entire bike is super clean but the rear wheel looks like it just came from the Simpson Desert.

i think this may have been 2UPriders Bike that he got rear ended and he got paid out and bought another bike?
it looks to be the same as the his old one

$6490.00? What chance has a seller got to get a decent price for their bike when people are prepared to sacrifice bikes for this sort of money. Not only market destroying but also soul destroying. Selling for that sort of money, it looks like my bike will stay in the shed and slowly disintegrate.
If it was a write off, it looks like somebody has bought it cheaply, repaired it cheaply and is out to make a quick quid. It couldn't happen in NSW, another case of no uniformity in law between the states and once again, Qld being behind the times.

Depends if it was classified as a repairable write off or not. The bike might be ok but the cost of repair probably was above the value of the market value of the bike so insurance company just writes it off.

Re registering a repairable write off in NSW requires jumping through more hoops and over more hurdles than it is worth. I haven't heard of anybody actually registering a repairable write off in NSW since they changed the legislation over 2 years ago.
My daughters car actually got hit up the backside about 3 years ago (not at fault) and was classified as a repairable write off and her Insurance paid her out. There wasn't a lot of damage, the car was under Insured, she bought the car back for $100.00 and we looked at getting it fixed and re-registered but the hurdles and hoops put us off. I finished up putting up putting up for auction on ebay and selling it to some guy in Qld. He probably fixed it and is still driving it around.
If I remember the process it went something like this,
1) You have to take it to an authorised repairer and get him to assess the damage and sign a declaration that it can be repaired to roadworthy condition.
2) You then have to apply to Roads and Maritime Services for authority to repair the car.
3) You then have to repair the vehicle.
4) You then have to take it back to a repairer who has to state that it is repaired to roadworthy condition.
5) You then have to get it Blue Slipped
6) You then have to present it to the Roads and Maritime Services for further Inspection.
Unless it was something very special and unique, you just wouldn't bother.

It's a Dealer advert and a lot of their blurb just comes from the stock library for the type of bike.
The fact it's a dealer, and at a ride-away-no-more-to-pay price means the previous owner didn't get much as a trade-in!
If you allow maybe $500 for the "on-road" costs and $1000 for the dealer, the PO only got $5000!! That's less than 1998 ST1100s are going for!! I think there's quite a bit of ignorance of the true value of the bike happening in this instance and someone should be rescuing it. How much is in kitty?

It is achievable and I know a guy who did it. He bought a written off Harley Electro glide with minor frame damage. To protect the innocent (or guilty) I am not going to specify how it was done other than to say it was done legally sort off, My mate reckons he got a $20,000 Harley for $8000.
I think it would only work well on a relatively unsophisticated bike like a Harley. The twin spar frame of the ST would be much more difficult to get repaired adequately for rego.
