My wife has found that after a longer ride she suffers that night (and sometimes the next day) with a dull headache and tinnitus. I'm wondering if it's the fit of the helmet which is causing this. We got her as light a full face helmet as we could - she had a car accident nearly 15 years ago and has some minor damage to the vertebrae in her neck. Wind buffeting from a side wind makes this worse.
The back of her head is reasonably flat, there's not a lot of a curve in from the base of her skull to her neck, and she wonders if the hard base at the back of the helmet is pressing against that ridge that runs up and down the back of the neck.
I'm thinking of removing some of the harder foam at the bottom of the back of the helmet then replacing the softer inner lining.
Anyone had similar experiences, thoughts on modifying the helmet?

Tipsy (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?action=profile;u=24) is the man to talk to, he has a inflatable neck thingy that relieves the pressure the helmet causes on his neck.

You also need to be sure the helmet is the right shape in the crown. My head is more oval shaped and the missus's head is more rounded. She has had a lot of trouble finding a helmet that fitted correctly without putting too much pressure on her forehead. Any pressure points no matter how small can over a few hours cause headaches.

Make sure you don't compromise the safety of the helmet in any way Steve by doing this.
In an impact situation, you may well be affording the helmet more movement and less support at this critical time.
Just saying to check it will still do its job if required. ++

The helmet may be pressing on her head some where, ask if she is feeling an uncomfortable pressure.
The tinnitus is from wind noise, get her some ear plugs, or earmold plugs with wiring for intercom/ ipod.
