Title: Just turned over 100,000km
Post by: StinkyPete on October 22, 2014, 06:45:55 PM
My '08 turned over 100,000 km on the OzSTOC SS1600k ride.    What happens when she hits 200,000, as there doesn't seem to be enough room for the "2" digit on the odometer display?

just turns back over to all zeros......... No ADR requirement other than up to the 200,000 km display on a bike as most don't usually get that far. So you could sell in theory sell a 10 year old 235000 km 1300 (for example) as a well looked after with only 35000k on the clock.

I'd like to think I could tell the difference ............

So it is possible for an old bike with plenty of miles on the clock to turn back into an unridden virgin. :p

Only on ones with a digital odometer.......the older 1100 type might re-zero after 999,999 km. So anyone with over 200,000 km on their 1100 wish to confirm that?

That would seem logical- the left "barrel" would be the same as the others and go 0 through to 9.
The reason the digital ones do what they do is, as pointed out, due to the space they gave themselves in the display.  Odd, methinks.  Since it cleverly remembers its values, and is ostensibly tamper-proof, you'd think there would be somewhere in the display or the firmware an indicator that it had passed 200,000 kays.  Perhaps only accessible by a dealer with the analyser box.

Will catch you in 2010 km if you stand still, Pete.    :wink1

I can confirm the 1100 just keeps on going after 200,000kms. There are 1100s that have gone over the 500,000km mark last I heard (Thane in canada), but a bit like gradpa's axe. It should start again after 999999, or explode!

I know of 13 owners finding out about the near 200,000 issue the hard way, waiting to take the picture...

Ruby joined the "Next Level" on our trip back from Stanwell Tops yesterday.

She's a 2009 bike, but I put 95000 of those on her since May 2011.

Impressive for a 2009, I guess about 30,000km a year, that a few oil changes and a few tanks of fuel  :thumb
And 604.2km on trip metre with 2 bars to go 'very impressive'  :thumb

Don't be fooled by the trip meter.  That was correct for the day, but there was a fuel stop a hundred kays from the beginning.

Being an ST, there's only 9 or 10 oil and filter changes in there.      :thumbs

Goodonya Biggles.   Great to see Ruby getting lots of road miles, just what Mr Honda designed her for, and we live in the best country in the world for doing just that.    :thumb

You guys ought to be leaving us miles behind given how much more road you've got to play on. My St 1300 that I got new in May 2011 is on 97,281. Admittedly a chunk of that was when I rode around your fine land back in 2012. My planned Christmas ride is up to the top of the North Island so should hit the big 100k next month.

Mine clocked over 100,00 km approx half way to work this morning and I missed it.  Noticed it when I pulled up at home this afternooon.  (Work is just over 30 km from home.
