I am with AAMI and the cost to renew for the next 12 months is $634. Does anyone use anyone else thats cheaper?

I paid $365 to Youi this year for my 2008 ST1300.
I managed to get my 1100A down to about $325 for the year with Youi and it won't be long until the end of the year is up so I'm wondering what the renewal will be.

Just paid Swann $395 full comp covered for $7981 04`1100. This is my second year with them. Also have the wives 250 Burgman at market value for $220 per annum. Quite happy with those figures....................Good luck.........Looks like a move away from AAMI is imminent.........Just Say`in.................... :wht11

I have my 02 1100 insured with swan insurance for $ 250 full comprehensive if this helps

i was with "insuremyride" but was restricted to weekend / recreational use and that worried me if i were to have a claim outside of this clause
I had a VERY bad experience with AAMI and would advise, stay as far away as possible, from them... :-(((
I switched to SWANN
fortnightly payments :thumbs
2005 ST1300A insured for 13k
rating 1 protected
2 nights accommodation if away from residence repairs
free towing
$500 helmet
$1000 gear
$400 excess
$452 p.a. premium
I valued my bike more than the market value, but feel it is worth over-estimating, in event of write-off, to allow for similar (or better) replacement if needed....

I have everything with Shannons and the multiple of vehicles are all on their restricted use policy . there is a total of 7 yes that is correct SEVEN different vehicles.
My reasoning is that I can only use then one at a time and they agree so they give me their best rate. all are for the agreed value and fully comprehensive cover with all of the extras.
They are worth checking out as their benefits and conditions are in my opinion pretty good.

Youi is good if its low risk to them. Older rider and type of bike. Tourer not sports

So I found out through AAMI whom I am with that the insurance amount is also based on the suburb you live in. So when I was in Cleveland, Qld, I paid around $600 so when I moved up here and only after I made some calls YOUI wanted to charge me $615. They even asked me where do I live and they still wanted to charge me that price, AAMI brought it down too $476.
When YOUI called me back to try and give me a better price of $550 I told them that the price they were charging me was highway robbery and I got a much better price with AAMI and when I mentioned the suburb option to them, all of a sudden they lowered it too $452. I was tempted to go with YOUI but whilst talking to AAMI and mentioning I had spoke to YOUI they asked me to ask YOUI the following question:
If its 2am and I am in the middle of nowhere and I try to call you, will you be coming out to help me.
Short answer was no.
AAMI on the other hand offer the service of sending someone out to help you regardless of what time.
Shocked.

Swann Insurance on Mine. Can't remember the exact price but somewhere around $430, (over 50 in garaged North Brisbane) and that is after having made a claim ($9,500) on the 13th day of owning this bike. Paid for new Gloves and Jacket as well. The only delay in the repairs was the wait for parts from Japan. Swann were very prompt. I'm sticking with them

I went with shannons on an agreed amount of $6k cover for a write off.
i went to youi who said they dont do agreed price but o ly do market value. I asked what they thought the market value was and they said $4k but "that depends ..... could e less if we see it has not been looked after". That by itself rang alarm bells for me. Then the premium was nearly $800 !!!!
shannons for a 43 yr old never had insurance before for a bike was less than $450...... and they coverd things like rideing gear and some farkles etc.

My Youi quote, as I have all other insurance with them was around $400 for bike valued at 13000. Seems a lot of variation with different companies. My Swann is around 500 but others were 3-400. I don't get it

I just payed $330 to Swan to insure my 07 1300 for $11000 plus $1000 riding gear $500 helmet and $500 personal affects.
I must be a good risk.

I just checked with Swann and found them a little cheaper than the $26 a month I pay now at Youi by about $4 a month but if I add rating 1 protection it goes to about $3 a month more ($29).
I have some gear and accessories cover with Youi ($500 each I think) but no rating 1 protection as far as I know but adding the gear etc to Swann takes it up to about $39 a month
The quote is saved until Youi lets me know what the upcoming renewal will cost for the next year

Over 55 - 65% NCB + 25% Discount on Line (?????) + 5% Discount Rider Training == 95% DISCOUNT??? W.T.F.
All up I paid $284-50 for $400 Excess - which I quickly snapped up - Policy received.

I've just received the renewal notice for the 1100's insurance. If I stay with Youi it will go up from $AUD26.35 a month to $33.94 for something that is fairly basic cover.
A quote from my preferred company will be $29.16 which from memory includes a Rating 1 protection so I might be giving Swann Insurance a call before the end of the month and cancel the automatic renewal with the other lot.

It was $476 and covers $6750 value plus gear.

I'm with Shannon's for the full comprehensive on the bikes and my ute.
My cost is much lower than those quoted above by a good measure and Shannon's understand I can only be using one vehicle at a time anyway so...no doubling up on the $.
But I took the time to work out what I expected and needed in my insurance. My use and frequency and the storage location too.
Either of my bikes may stand about for a month or more on occasion then clock up 1000's of K's in a few days. By the end of a year the mileage may reflect that of a local commute but only been out of the shed a dozen times. I discussed this with the consultant and we designed the policy to reflect that. The work ute is the same and its years old. Not a problem with that, "what do you think its worth?"then we negotiated a figure and that's set in stone until next renewal.
Best part is quarterly payments direct debit. No wallet shock.
Riding gear, pick up, and accommodation + fares ie hirecar or air.
You have to ask for what you want and you have to negotiate with a consultant a bit further up the food chain.
Its worth the time taken.

I have 7 vehicles and the house and contents all with Shannons 'and find them excellent.
When you look at their policy details and the inherent benefits etc. That is available from them I feel that my situation can not be bettered in value for money.or convenience.
I also find that their consultants are great to deal with and you can discuss and negotiate with them.
I guess that just like most things in any business arrangment, you have to know what you want and the correct questions to ask, and how to negotiate around your particular needs in order to obtain a satisfactory result that will suit your perceived needs and requirements.
For my particular needs and requirements, I feel that Shannon's tick all of the boxes.

I rang Swann this morning and cover starts with them from the 1st of Jan for $30.06 a month. Next I rang Youi and cancelled the automatic renewal for the 1st Jan.
Of course they tried to keep me on board and reduced the premium down to $30 a month. "But you don't offer rating 1 protection" the main reason for leaving. "Yes" we do.......funny it's not stated nor was I asked when taking out the policy. The guy implied I was stupid as I could save a whole six cents a month by staying with Youi.......
What I didn't tell him was that Swann covers the trailer up to a $1000 while I'm towing it whereas with Youi I needed a separate policy which would have cost more than six cents a month.....lol

Famous Insurance $289 fully comprehensive for $12500 agreed value. Only paid $11000. Cant complain yet as I havent had a claim on insurance for the last 8 years.
Had Swann insurance they wouldn't honour my claim :||||so dumped then. That was 1979 haven't been back.
Had good experiences with QBE though. :thumbsup

I found the Youi phone operator very personable when I was looking for a property policy.
But don't get me started about the Indian from Telstra on the awful phone line who was pretending to offer a better phone deal but was really flogging a package that includes Foxtel. Wasted at least 15 minutes of my wife's and my time. We don't want Foxtel and tried to tell him that several times. :OldMan

We've lost track of how many phone calls we get from "Indians" advising of how much less we'll be paying for our internet from our next account on, we just need to supply them with some personal information, including whether or not we have a credit card, I listened to the first 5 minutes of the first caller about 4 months ago but now we just hang up when they call, we've had 3 calls today, but it's not unusual to have 6-7 calls a day and it's always someone different..........they're certainly persistant!! :cuss

They've certainly "got your number"!
This call was really employed by Telstra. He didn't want our CC number, and knew the details of our account and usage.
What ticked me off was Telstra's underhanded way of trying to get us to sign up for their wretched Foxtel.

I insured my '96 ST1100 two weeks ago through QBE for $292. 59 year old at market value - rating 1
