Of course I thought he was going to slide it over the compressed finger.
It ain't gonna work getting my wedding ring over my arthritic joint because it's not just swelling, but calcium deposition that's increased the knuckle size.  It's there forever, or until it's painful, and then it will be cut off (the ring, but sometimes I think I'll let the finger go).

Been doing it for years for all sorts of different reasons in the ED - and I can attest that it isn't always that easy. I would also recommend dish washing liquid on the string and finger first.
