If I'm careering down a hill with no brakes I want to be in change of the device I'm sitting on.
Interesting at the end, the parallel electric tape - I wonder how quickly you would stop if you hit a cow.

Erg- no thanks.  I'm with Totgas.  I need to know I can stop or that there is someone who will stop it if I start screaming!     :eek

Watching "off-ride" clip, there is a continuous stream of "cars" coming down the track, so it wouldn't work for you to have a brake- you'd get clobbered from behind.  It doesn't look as fast from the side.

Seemed to me like there should be, in case of emergency or panic, or catching up with another car.
