Ok with all the trailers around and the many experiences of members what would be the pros and cons of different tyre sizes to use on my yet to be built unit. :think1
Things to consider are wear, stability and availability on those isolated roads. :grin

For my recovery trailer I used Mini wheels, local tyre supplier had no trouble obtaining tyres, I think as they are car rated you should be able to get 50k out of them.

My Classic Ultralite has 10" wheels, but the newer trailers seem to have moved to 12" wheels to allow space for the brake disks.

Same size wheels for mine. Tyres are 3 ply 5.20 X 10 with tubes and were on it when I bought the trailer in Jan 2011 and I'd estimate 25,000 km trailer usage since then.

I got our trailer new in 2004. The original tyres were cross ply, but they seemed to be causing a fair bit of drag and the tread was wearing unevenly after about 20,000km, so a few years ago, I switched to some light weight Falken radials. I still run them at about 14 to 15psi with tubes.
A lot of the running is at 100kph, on longer trips, to places such as Cape Tribulation, Philip Island and Alice Springs from Townsville. Just recently, I towed the trailer around Australia on the Black Dog Ride. These have now been on for about 30,000km and hardly show any signs of wear.

My trailer has 12 inch wheels.. tyres are like hens teeth. Gonna go to 13 inch or 10 inch wheels so at least I have a hope of finding tyres to suit.

Whatever you do please use the same tyre size on your yet to be built unit. :rofl
Sorry, I'll be serious now. I had 10" tyres on my trailer. When I shredded one trailer tyre south of Blackall on the way to Cairns I could not get a replacement in Blackall or Barcaldine. I decided to head east to Rockhampton to try there rather than continue on the inland route. Fortunately, I purchased three new 10" inch tyres in Rockhampton.
On my return to Canberra, Resort Trailers swapped my 10" tyres for 13" ones to enable me to replace trailer tyres in most places. They were heavy but were good for towing the trailer behind my 4WD.
I've since put 12" tyres on the trailer.

Its handy if I go round Aus clockwise right hand 10 and left 12. I could swap if I turn around. Negates the need for a swivel hitch :butt
