When you get stopped for a random breath test or a ticket or anything are you requierd to remove your helmet?
particulalry Qld but any state really.
-
Not in Vic for a breatho, unless you have a full face helmet... but depends a lot on attitude of Officer.
-
I couldn't say I was ever required..cant even remember being asked to.
Took the lid off once because I was in a line, mid morning on a hot day waiting an RDT.
Other times I've been pulled up straight to the copper and just stuck it in over the chin bar...no fuss and not even asked for my licence. QLD ant NT
One time at the fruit fly station last year I was pulled to one side by a politeman and took my lid off out of habit as there was 5 coppers one a camera in hand taking pics of other two wheeled brethren ( I was solo).
Camera cop took one look at me /the bike and moved on. The other cop asked my destination and commented about cleaning me off the road because I was riding at night...big deal.
Required, possibly we are so the plan is a helmet with a scarf thing wrapped round it.
but depends a lot on attitude of Officer. I think your attitude and outfit has a bit to do with the big picture. Even when your a sure bet to be a few K's over and the HP goes by and just waggles his finger, lots of factores go through his brain before he pops a Uee in my experience no different regardless of circumstance.

So far I haven't needed to remove my full face helmet for RBT in either SA or WA. Might be different if you went over the limit though.
-
I have never been asked, but if I am pulled over I tend to take it off anyway, it is quicker, and polite.
now I have the Shark Evoline 3 I just flip the ratchet bar back now
-
I've never had to :thumbs
-
Have never been asked to, but I do wear a flip.....haven't been questioned in a servo either, paying for fuel..... just flip up, sunnies off and dollars or card obviously in my hand :popcorn
:beer

I've been told three times to remove my helmet next time I come in to to pay for fuel. When I questioned why, because I was wearing a flip face, they said because the flip creates a shadow on teh face. (Shoei multi-tec.) so now I always remove it.
I've only been asked to take off my helmet once by a policeman, and that was for 10 km over the speed limit in Brisbane.
-
I wear a full face, and always remove my helmet when I pay for fuel. I see no reason to make a stand about my "rights", and consider it to be a courtesy to remove my helmet off when I'm talking to someone.
-
Never been asked to for RBT.
-
RBT on the Snowy Ride only required to talk into RBT tester and only with the visor on my fullface lifted. No probs.
-
I have found that with the Shark Evoline flipped into the open face position when paying for fuel the only servos that seem to have an issue is BP.
I have been told that it is a company mandate that they aren't to serve people who are wearing a helmet weather or not the riders face can be seen.
So I take my helmet off when going to any BP servos.
Also when I walk in to (non BP servos) I have my wallet in my hand and look up straight at the camera and smile. It's always been fine with the guys behind the counter :grin

It's company policy for just about every service station and more to do with worker safety and anti theft/robbery issues than anything else. With Coles Express we were told to lock the doors if a person didn't take their helmet off before entering the store. Most riders tend to remove helmets when getting off the bike anyway and it's only a few that don't want to.
-
That could be but I've only ever been asked to at BP servos.
I have no issue with taking it off if asked and if I know they want me to do so whenever I go to one of those servos It'll be off before I go to pay :)

and if you get sick of their request, you'll buy your fuel elsewhere, and they can miss out on your 20 litres per week.
That'll learn 'em! :grin
-
You only need to if its a female officer :P
-
I take my helmet off, mainly because I have the earplugs in and its hard to hear them over the noise from Ch40..
o:) o:)
-
In the 39 years (20 years break in middle work/kids)
I have never been stopped or pulled up :grin
Slight different story in the car but we are not talking about that :thumb
-
I'm with Leo. I have never been pulled over for an RBT whilst on the bike. o:)
-
Got pulled over on the SA/NSW border. Pulled up beside the officer and sat astride my bike with full face helmet on. He started talking to me and I asked him to wait as I had music playing in my helmet. Shut the music off and removed my helmet, asked him to repeat what he was saying. He was friendly and did a RBT, enquired where I was going and wished me a safe ride.
I think being polite first has a payback. Two other riders were fully searched personally and baggage checked at the same stop.
-
Its usually more about the rider/drivers attitude than the officers. Allways take helmet off paying for fuel. Never had PBT on the bike but wouldnt want to take helmet off unless I was off the road. I will try and inquire if there is a policy etc in Victoria

I usually have it on when I refuel but take it off when I walk in to pay. I have had a service station attendant thank me for taking it off. For memory it was at my local servo on Donald Bradman Drive in Hilton. Many years ago when going to refuel at a Caltex on Brighton Road, Hove I've had an announcement over the speaker to remove my helmet before refuelling. Needless to say, I have never been back there since.
-
At an RBT have never been asked to remove it (or alight the bike).
-
We got pulled up for RBT when doing Great Ocean Road Trip and policeman was surprised that I took helmet off to give sample. He said that the majority of times riders leave helmet on???

Its not easy to get at the straw around the chin bar..

For RBTs the Police like to keep things moving. Apparently there are performance expectations, as demonstrated by VicPol's recent scandal. Hence helmet "on" is acceptable.
-
I use the BP app on my phone to pay for the fuel, no need to even go into the store

Shell, Caltex, etc... won't accept the BP app.

That's why I feel up at BP when I can if I can't then I take my helmet off
-
I have never tried to 'feel up' at BP , could get arrested for sexual harrassment! :rofl
-
LOL I'm not even going to edit that post

I wont use BP, its usually 20C more expensive, and Puma gives 4C for an RAC card.
