I noticed in a few threads few people having problems with nuisance telemarketers.
Back in 2006 the government introduced a "Do Not Call" register where you can list your home and mobile numbers to stop Australian Telemarketers from calling and it also stop any Telemarketers from overseas contracted by Australian Businesses.
https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ (https://www.donotcall.gov.au/)
The only flaw is Charities, Churches and Political Parties where excluded. :'(
We rarely get calls now and when we do I remind them we are the "Do Not Call Register". I did have one from Telstra afterwards and I rang Telstra and complained. :||||
Some do try to persist but hanging up is so easy to do. :grin

We are registered with "Do Not Call" and rarely get unwanted calls, except for the occasional "your computer is crook and we can fix it" scam.

I still get calls from research organisations.
I tell them I'm happy to participate in their survey as long as they pay me my hourly rate of $400.
They hang up.

Same here........
But lately we've had a new one.'........... Remember some banks over charging there fees a few years ago?
We've had a few calls seemingly from a federal govt. dept. saying they have this money to be returned for overcharged bank fees. They will either post or transfer the money into your account but you need to either give them your address and/or account number.
In the real world the bank would just refund the money into your account or send a letter asking you to contact them if you changed banks.

I had an Indian confused one day, when I told him I had no phone... "What am you using to be speaking to me with?"
I replied "My online toaster handles incoming calls, but I have to use my refrigerator for outgoing calls, faxes and emails."
