Not exactly a ride report but.
Home tomorrow after 10 days in Japan.
Great place for a holiday.
Found a Honda for Tipsy (there is a second wheel n the other side at the back)
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00222.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00222.jpg.html)
Discovered how Japanese do bacon and egg sandwiches.
Asked if they would do breakfast for us in Toowoomba but they had other commitments.

This was a quiet Sunday morning at Shinjuku Train Station

And of cause there was a little snow
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00304.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00304.jpg.html)

Looks like fun. Where's your face mask? De rigueur in Japan!
No good going there if you have enochlophobia. :eek
-
:wht11 py
well did you bring one home for me or what :well WOW: ;-*
Tipsy
the 3 wheeler not the B&E
-
I'll have the Bacon and Egg :-)
-
looks like a nice trip

So you only took 4 photos?
Don't be a photo tease, I want more

Marcus you are a brave man asking me for more photos. Will post some more when we get to the Airport tonight.

Welcome home Glen, i bet after next weekend (its going to be 38 on Sunday) you will wish you were back in the snow, I don't suppose you have a new Wing in your luggage (duty free of course) ;-*
Cheers Chris

Thanks for the welcome Chris. I don't think Sunday will be too bad as we will be visiting my sister inlaw, forcast 3 to 15
https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=charlotte+weather (https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=charlotte+weather)
Nothing for the wing this trip but a new exhaust system should be waiting at my sister inlaws for me to bring home. That has now delayed any thoughts of an 1800 until after Toowoomba.

Tipsy

Sorry Tipsy just a little too big. But I did get to watch a couple of them go around a corner, the back axle stays level to the ground with the remainder of the bike leaning into the corner. Unfortunately no photo.

OK will add a couple of photos each day until Marcus has seen enough.
But to start with just a couple of things about Japan.
People friendly, very clean, we found good hotels for around $110 per night (although rooms a little small), food about Australian prices if not cheap cheaper.
Train system great after a little learning period. If you want to travel a lot than a must is a JR (Japan Rail) Pass for 7 or 14 days which must be purchased BEFORE leaving Australia and your name used to buy the rail pass must be exactly the same as that in your passport. I gives you unlimited access to all the JR Lines including bullet trains except for a couple of express ones.
OK here we go day one arrive Tokyo early in the morning airport express train into Tokyo, bullet train to Kyoto and check into hotel by about 2.00pm.
Then quick trip to a shrine (lots of impressive shrines and temples in Japan) in Irani (that is Theresa wearing the green hat so I didn't lose her)

Than back to see Kyoto at night from its Tower

Awesome, keep the photos coming :thumbsup

Awesome Glen. My son and a couple of mates went over on Christmas day and came back last Friday afternoon. They had a ball. My son reckons the JR Rail Pass is the way to go. They did Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima.

On the second day we woke to this view out our hotel window. The result of an overnight snow fall that apparently was fairly wide spread and caused delays with trains. I actually took some photos outside in the night when it was snowing but with no card in the camera got nothing.
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00066.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00066.jpg.html)
Then off to Osaka with the green car all to ourselves
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00070.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00070.jpg.html)
Even if our Super Hakuto3 was delayed 45 minutes
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00069.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00069.jpg.html)
The entrance to Osaka Castle looked a little plain until you realized this wall was built in 1624 and the large stone in this picture weighs approx 108 tonne.

We didn't go in inside but this section was impressive from the outside

Day 3. Off to see some country side by doing a train trip to the Matsue on the west coast and home via Tottori, 890 kms.
Lots of fresh snow on the way.

At Matsue we only had time to stretch our legs by walking across a nearby bridge and back for our next train.

Train system was great for English with signs and announcements in English. Other places varied considerably

Day 4. Another day, another bullet train or two. Off to Kanazawa.
Off the train, found a nice English speaking man at the tourist information office and on to the loop bus to:-
1. Kanazawa Castle

3. On the bus again to the Gold Leaf Museum. Still can't believe how thin they make this stuff several magnitudes thinner than 1/1000"
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00159.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00159.jpg.html)
4. Finally back to the train station to walk through the impressive wooden Arch that we didn't see when we arrived.

Day 5 :Cake2. Just a short local train ride today to Nara.
Wet and overcast put an interesting day walking around the town

Day 7. Last day in Kyoto. Another train trip. This time to Shiojiri hoping to find some more snow. A nice trip but think you then needed to get a bus to the snow fields. Found some nice lights near a shopping centre in Kyoto when looking for KFC on the way home.
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00263.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00263.jpg.html)

Whilst on night lights. This is a photo taken the day before from Shin-Osaka Station when changing trains.
Why the photo? Well the all the red lights are taxis waiting at the Taxi rank.

Great photos, thanks Glen for sharing.

Day 9. Head to Nagano on a Bullet Train in search of easy access to Snow. Also Nagano was shown as where the winter Olympics were held but when we arrived no sign of snow. Apparently like Shiojiri you need to bus it out to the ski fields. We quickly changed our train tickets and caught the next train back to Tokyo which meant we had time for a quick trip to check out the snow at Echigo-Yuzawa which was our planned destination for the next day.
Arrived at Echigo-Yuzawa about 4 pm, to find this opposite the train station
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00298.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00298.jpg.html)
It was snowing and got heavier while we had a short walk down the street and back to catch our return train to Tokyo
(http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l535/West_Aussie_Glen/Japan/DSC00304.jpg) (http://s1122.photobucket.com/user/West_Aussie_Glen/media/Japan/DSC00304.jpg.html)
