Could I ask if anyone knows the overall length of the ST1300 badge on the main cowl on the bike?
PJ
-
I'll measure it up tonight Paul.
-
I guess you mean the transfer just below the mirror on either side, they are 175 mm long
-
Yes, it's the one below the mirrors. I'm grateful for the help, both. Thank you. U.S versions seems to have a decal which is slightly smaller at 172mm. Hmmm!
-
I was using a steel tape measure and didn't want to scratch any thing so I would say it is the same size as the US ones.
-
Thanks again Glen for taking the time. I've now finalised the build on 172mm.
-
Well???? C'mon PJ - give over mate - what are you up to then??? :phone

I sell badges specifically for the ST1300. Riders all over the world seem to like them and I'm starting doing another line which is again for the ST1300. Problem is that in UK we can't get samples of this particular badge because they refuse to sell into a market they're not intended for - which is why I needed to ask for advice fom both the U.S and Australia.
Owners have expressed a wish that HONDA would provide a proper, solid cowl badge for the non-Euro version but they don't, not like the facelift they gave the Pan badge years ago, when it became solid and not just a decal.
So if they won't supply them, I will try to. Slightly modified to enhance the thing and available in stock single characters in resin or with a 'rippling in the wind' national flag of the owner's choice visible though the slightly enlarged holes in the zeros on the flagged version.
To an eye that's not that bothered about detail they'll look identical except for being resin, but I've got rid of a couple of little things that seem to bug some people like different arm lengths on the '3', the fact that the 'ST' and the numbers seem to incline at different angles, etc.
These ones being bigger than the others I sell, are being made by a firm which makes badges for the external skins of Jumbo Jets so they should stick ok!!
Anyway, when I go South for a family visit next week, I'm picking up the samples and looking at the maker's operation to make sure that I'm happy with them. After that the camera will be out to do the ads, etc.
So that's what it's for. Don't want to take advantage of the forum for selling. I don't do it as a business, I just like doing stuff like this as a hobby.
If the mods feel this is an inappropriate post, I am sorry, it wasn't intended and I am happy for it to be deleted.
Regards and thanks again.

Deleted - Ha! We'll only be upset if you don't give us a fair go at buying them! :rofl :rofl :rofl
Keep us in the loop mate, as I'm sure a few of us would be interested if these work out.
Cheers, Diesel
PS - You KNOW the 1100 guys are going to go ape if they don't get a badge too don'tchya? :rofl
-
Well a 1300 badge :grin :grin :grin :grin would look a bit silly on my bike....
-
If you think 1100 owners (type not number) might want, I can get those done very easily as the artwork is almost already there. I'll email the makers tonight to get a mockup done.
Would someone be able to measure one and perhaps even post or and send me a close-up photo? My email is pjstallard@sky.com?
Bulk buys for the forum at mates rates is always a poss.

Make up an Arsenal one and I might be interested :D
-
Don't think so, they're having a tough old time of it just now. Arsen could be on hs way out!
-
:( Too true... I am just now coming out of my full week of formal mourning. A win against Spurs will dent the pain a smidge.
:hijacked Arr!
-
It all seems really unfair to me. Arsen has done more for that club than anyone else for theirs (except Sir Alex) and people are turning on him now when they should be asking questions of the players (or should I say prima donnas). Average Manager's job nowadays is a poisoned chalice if you ask me!
Oops. Did that get to the stage of being a rant?!
Calming down now - just take a deep breath!

:wht11 py
I would be in for a couple of 1100 badges
as for the chalice with the palace or the vessel with the pestle, :p :crackup

Count me in too.
For two (2) sets as well.

The maker has just emailed that the 1100 is more straight forward as we already have the artwork for the 1300 to call on.
I don't know about doing the more squiggly version of the ST for the 1100 badge, it will be the one that shares the ST shape more or less, with the 1300 decal style. The colouring of the 1300 badge I think goes nicely anyway with any colour bike so I'd like to use the same colour scheme. Of course unlike the 1300 badge all characters on the 1100 version would be the same size. But thoughts welcome. Unless I hear different I'll go for the same size @ 172mm overall length and black outlining to all the characters.

Is this the one your on about?

No. The ones I do are these for the panniers. The ones I'm going to do are the cowl badges which just say st1300 or ST1100.
I also do the pannier resin badges which say HONDA not Pan-E.
-
My problem with the ST1300 decals on my Candy Apple Red is they are almost unreadable because they are such a poor contrast with the paintwork. I deduce your colour scheme contrasts better.
At £9.75 a pair (based on the pannier ones) I'd hope for a decent improvement. Any pix available yet?
-
These new ones are far more complex than the Pannier badges. Costings haven't been done yet so all that has got to be worked out but I do know they can't be anywhere near that price. The new ones will be individual resin characters not just a single resin dome. I get the protos next weekend and I'll post some photos then. Nice try though. :)
-
Just had a period of cool, dry here so the bike's started to get a bashing at last.
First problem here is all the salt they chuck down as soon as it gets anywhere near freezing. Doesn't rain that much in Aberdeenshire and it takes an age for it to disappear so if you want the bike to last you've got to pick your days!
Second problem is you don't get far anyway before a nice restaurant appears and you just have to stop. Lol.
-
I was just reading about the big drought in the south of England.
They're even telling the Pommies down there to forget the Annual Bath.
It's getting serious when it comes to that!! :crazy
When we had our drought back in 2007 to 2009 we thought that was the normal riding conditions.
Nope- summers are wet here in Queensland, apparently.
Winter is pretty safe to plan a dry ride.
-
I can always dream.

I picked up the protos for the ST1300 resin badges an hour ago. I'm pleased with the standard and I feel they are an enhancement that quite a few might like to make. Going to do some photos when I get home from a weekend away. The ST1100 version should be at home waiting for me when I get back.
To preserve the look of the later model '11 cowl decals, the resin version looks like being slightly bigger overall than the '13 resin ones because all characters will be the same height where the '13 decals have differential sizes - same length just look bigger.
Thinking about doing them in just straight chrome with black outline to the 'ST' and black top shadows to numerals. Chrome will suit every colour and outlining in black is only compromised on black bikes - on which the chrome will really stand out.
-
Thanks PJ - a lot of us down under are waiting with baited
breath...eyes....mouses...wallets...whatever! :rofl :rofl :rofl
Thanks for your interest in this. :-++
Cheers, Diesel

Pj, you better put this on the 1100 :butt especially the white ones :hatwave :runyay :blk13

I'll supply the badges and you supply the wiggly bum! Lol.

These are detail photos on the flickr site of the new cowl badges in resin.
Just finished putting the new badges on and I am very pleased.
The chrome will stand out on all colours I think and the black outlining which is slightly thicker on the 'ST' than on the numbers will do well, even on white.
The photo attachments on here are lower res and fewer than on the flickr site.
In one photo on the flickr site I've placed one of the sidebag Pan-E badges next to the new badge just in case people would want to preserve the Pan-E identity a bit more positively. I already have the sidebag badges in resin which say 'HONDA' and they're usable in conjunction with the new cowl badges too for outside Europe.
The 'ST1100' resin badges will be along soon. They will be the same as for the '13 except that the numbers will be the same height as the letters of the 'ST' and the whole thing will be slightly shorter in length because of the substitution of a '1' for the '3'.
I'll do a photoshop job and post a mock-up of that one soon.
Well, what do you think??

Looks very elegant, especially on the silver/grey.
