Title: National Rally Bike of the year
Post by: ST2UP on February 16, 2015, 01:51:19 PM
Each year at National Rally a ST1100 or ST1300 is selected for the prestigious accolade of OzSTOC "Bike of the Year" award.

Previous winners of the award have been Dick B "Yewie" with their ST1300 from NSW in 2012, Lethal on his ST1100 from S.A in 2013 and last year was Sicman on a ST1300 and from NSW.

We have the previous years winner of the award select the bike at their discretion using the selection criteria of their choice, if they are not at National Rally then the current leadership team will select the bike of the year. We use this process as it potentially gives a different set off of guidelines each year.

This year we have asked Sicman to outline below what he will be looking for in a potential winner for this years OzSTOC 'Bike of the Year".

So I think the guidelines for judging Bike of The Year needs to be kept simple.

For a bike to catch my eye it needs to make me want to jump on and ride it away because :-
1) It is clean and shiny to look at, with that sparkle glinting in the sun like Abe with a gold tooth  :wink1 :grin;

2) Any modification's enhance the ride and look like they may have been on the bike when it was in the showroom i.e. diesel conversion mod  :wink1 :o :grin :grin

3) The farkles don't take away from the sleek lines of a Goddess of a bike  - Picture Shiney in a toga with gold wreath  :o Wot thuh :thumb

Yep - Nice and simples  :grin :grin
 :slvr13
 :think1 Bribes accepted in any form before the judging commences to ensure fair play during the judging process  :whistle :grin

I would urge you to consider that at Bike of the Year should have lots of bugs, road grime and battle scars, in keeping with a well used long distance tourer.  It might be the only way that I would ever have a chance.    :grin

Failing that, I think your criteria are excellent.  :thumb

"lots of bugs, road grime and battle scars"

There's still a case to be made for the former...
