Wanted riders for marshalling duties for the 2015 season for Bicycling WA.
I've just been appointed Lead marshal for BWA and they are upping their requirement for motorcycle marshals for each event of the forthcoming season.
I'm asking if any of you guys are interested in participating for any of the events, at this time marshal numbers have not been finalised for each event but I'm trying to get a list of interested riders together.
This request is open to any rider ST or other motorcycle,
Please comment if you are interested and I will endeavour to contact everyone.

Wanted for Sunday 19th April, marshals for the day, no marshal experience required but advantageous, 6am start in perth riding most of the day for the safety of 2500+ cyclists.
20 marshals required, an honourarium payment will be made to each marshal to cover fuel and wear and tear of your bike, I would ideally like ST owners to fill these positions before other groups are approached.
A firm commitment is required, we can't afford for people to drop out.
Any further information please comment or send PM.

Post it note on my computer for reminder. :CB--
Quite a few events on that day. Any hint as to which one :phone

Its the Dams ride, its a long day. Last year we had 4 bikes (one was a 250 cruiser type I think, not quite up to the job) The STs are ideal, as they have the range and ability to carry some sprares for the riders like tubes and CO2 cylinders, and extra water. With 20 Marshals, it will make the task a lot easier.
Of course having UHF comms is a great help.
-
We gather at south perth around 6am and riders start out around 6.30-7am, we aim to guide groups out and then return until all riders are away from the start, we then escort them along the routes, there are two routes, 3dams and 5 dams, the latter being the longest.
Like Brock said we carry tubes and co2 cylinders, first aid kits, water and your own supplies so the ST is just right for the event.
There are quite a few water stations along the route, where you can stop for water for yourself and to pick up spare bottles for participants,
Speaking for myself, I find doing the marshalling, is not only great fun but we provide a safety element for the cyclists, having UHF on the bike is a plus and I am talking to BWA to get portable sets for other marshals so we have better contact with each other.
On the day you will be issued a marshal pack that includes a map of the route which is advise able to tape to your tank or put it in a tank bag, food and coffee vouchers, and vehicle identification signs that need to be affixed to your windscreen or somewhere on the bike.
I would like each rider to wear full protective riding gear and a hi viz vest, I have spares if you need one.
The event lasts nearly 12 hours if your on the 5 dams and pick up the last riders, but I think you'll thoroughly enjoy it.
There is an honorarium payment of $250 for fuel and wear and tear on the vehicle, as you are volunteering your time.
This is usually paid about a week after the event.
It would be good to have a lot more OZSTOC riders at the event. If you know any other riders ST or not that would like to have a go, let me know.

:wht11
-
MS3, MS6 would have been to bulky
-
I have ms 6 on the front, better patterns available. Where are you mounting them? 2 at the front, 2 on the side, 2 at the rear, all amber?
:wht11
-
At the moment, 4 rear 2 front below the driving lights all amber. They should be fairly low profile until turned on.
-
Are you doing the Kalamunda 100 on the 8th march?
:wht11
-
I said I was available, but havent heard back.
-
All things going well i should be good for 19th April. Will confirm next week. What will you be riding if yours sells Peter?
-
That's great news Pezzz, the more the merrier, will be in touch closer to date, will need to pass on your bank account details so that BWA can pay you the honorarium payment.
The bike is up for sale as I've been offered a newer model, but need to sell mine to afford it.

Fair enough .... I think Wombat wants to catch up for more info on the whole thing as well. He was talking about a mid week coffee run your way maybe ????? I too would like some more granular info on what to do, what are roles, where to ride and what to do if something goes wrong etc.
