I went along to the Manheim Fowles auction today to check out the two ex police ST1300s that were up for auction.
They went (as far as I could tell from the very hard to understand auctioneer who I'm sure had Tourettes Syndrome) for $4750 for the slightly better one and $4500 for the other.
There wasn't much difference between the two. The first had a few thousand kms less (@ 83k from memory, the other had @ 95k) and the first was just a bit tidier overall.
But of course, Manheim being Manheim, there is also the + 12.5% buyer's fee to add plus the remainder of licence through to June 30th, being state government vehicles.
Still pretty good value though and if I'd had the $$$ I would have bid. I was hoping they'd go for $4k max, but bidding started at $3750 on each so it started pretty much where I wanted it to finish.

A couple of people still got very cheap bikes.
Now watch the dealers' ads for "lovely white ST13s, very hard to find at this competitive $9000 Ride Away, No More To Pay!!"
-
Yes, when my time comes I'll be looking there too.
The W.A. Police cancelled their contract with Honda a few years ago when they decided to reduce the motorcycle fleet and lots of bikes were stored at no expense to the police, because Honda wouldn't allow the W.A. Police to exit the contract.
So lots of bikes were stored from new for two to three years.
When CHOGM came along, the Police brought some of them out of mothballs so they were new bikes for when the Queen was here in Perth and they went on patrol afterwards, based at the Midland Traffic Operations Group, all with TE call signs.
I believe these are those bikes.
There will be more coming through the system in coming months/years.

It doesn't really matter how "new" they are, 95,000 kms is 93,000 kms
I must say WA seems to be the only state that doesn't take to time, (or expense) to replace the drilled bits.
QLD are in the habit of fixing everything before putting them up for auction - Thank You QLD Government.

Should be a few ex Police ST1300s coming up at auction in QLD soon. I was talking to one of the riders the other day and he has ben offered an FJR to replace his Honda which is being retired and he told me that they are replacing quite a few of the fleet soon.

That tally's with my info as well, however they are fairly high "k" bikes ie over 100,000

One I was looking at was under 60,000kms. There are a heap that have lots of k's that were kept for G20.. worked on one FJR in November that had over 136,000 kms on the dial.
-
I dont think I would pay much for an FJR with 136000 Ks, but dont know much about them.
-
When QPS sold the Beemers they had they went for a song. Many went for under 4 grand.
-
I was also advised that of all the bikes they have had over the last ten years they were off the road the most frequent.

A bit off topic - I bought a 2010 ex-police FJR1300 with 26,000 kms on the speedo for $9,000 at a Sydney auction in Jun 2014. It came with factory-fitted crash bars front and rear.
