Title: Adelaide - Footpath Parking
Post by: StinkyPete on March 05, 2015, 07:45:34 AM
The Adelaide City Council are investigating the concept of allowing scooters and motorcycles to park on footpaths.   It's a long way from concept to "done deal", but it's a positive step for motorcyclists.

It has worked for years in Melbourne.
Brisbane City Council have marked quite a lot of designated spaces on low traffic footpaths, but are a long way from making it widespread, let alone universal.  Our STs barely fit in the spaces they paint.  Perfect for scooters on centre stands.

That's on top of the free CBD motorcycle parking we already have.

I've never had a problem finding a bike park in the CBD though there were few where I would have needed to ride the bike on the footpath to get into. It seems some riders think it's ok to park in front of a bike that's already in a space (double parking). I saw a couple spaces like that in front of the RAH (Hospital) so up onto the footpath and parked in the space. The bike in front of mine would have been long gone before I was leaving so no issue when it was my time to leave.

One can't do much when parked in by a car unless driving a 4WD with bull bar.
Bikes are easy though. Just kick it over.

Hey- we play nice, remember?    :-(((

Well, OK then if it's a Harley, but otherwise, be nice.  OK?    :grin
