Title: front tie down?

I have a bike lift, (as my knees are getting too old) and I want to tie down the front so I can raise the rear to remove the wheel. Looking at the options to attach tie downs to, there aren't too many. I am reluctant to use the handlebars, as the grips look too slippery.

I don't want to have to pick the beast up off the floor, so can anybody recommend a tie-down procedure for the front??

You don't need to raise the back of the bike that high. Centre stand height is more than enough. Remove the rear fender (number plate attaches to it) and just remove the wheel. There's four allen bolts to undo. One each side under the tail light and one each side above and about inline of the side case rear (need to remove). Remove the wheel from the back like you would if doing it on the ground.

Will post a pic of the fender bolt locations tomorrow.

Some bike lifts also have a plates where the wheels sit and with the bike on centre stand the wheel can be dropped through the lifter.

So once your bike is on that lift what was your plan to hold the back end up without a wheel on? What's your plan to lift the back end of the bike to about replicate the centre stand hight?

What is it about that lift the prevents you from using the centre stand other than being restricted in how far forward you can push the bike?

Yep. The lift is too narrow to employ the centerstand, but I have a "Jack" that lifts the bike  : http://www.hartstransport.com.au/accessories.html (http://www.hartstransport.com.au/accessories.html)

I think I should be able to hold the bike as was suggested by Yorkie. I have had a look, and it should be good
