Title: New member- Brisbane
Post by: rocketeer on February 27, 2012, 11:09:38 AM
Hi all

Just stopping in to introduce myself- Brad from Brisbane.  Been riding for must be 12 years now with breaks between bikes.

I'm very mechanically minded.  I'm a draftsman, but also trained in lubrication- from basic lubrication engineering including oil testing, specification for most machinery, troubleshooting and filtration.

I also run 'garage days' through another forum, where we meet up in various Brisbane/ gold coast locations to work on each others bikes- from detailing to servicing, and basic modification or repairs.  The next meeting (date to be finalised) is at Hiside Leathers Brisbane, with an almost fully equipped garage, hopefully including a tyrechanger on site.  I'm happy to post on here if anyone close enough is interested.

Cheers,

Brad

Welcome Brad,

The workshop days sound good, but I might have to give em a miss. Its a bit of a hike from Perth.

Streak has a small project he needs looking at, perhaps he should attend :crackup :crackup

Also sounds like you will be a good man to have on hand for these interminable Oil discussions, at the moment a few of us are trying some penrite hpr15-40 semi synth diesel oil. It seems to be better for the transmission, in the 1100s (its also a lot cheaper than Honda oil)

Another Queensland worthy.  Welcome- you're certainly welcome to post your workshop days here.
Probably double your attendances (but might halve the mechanical IQ present).

What's your ride?  Hanging out here might help you pick a winner   :thumbsup   :rd13   :dred11

Thanks guys, yes Brock might be a little far for the garage days.  As for the gearboxes- the heavier the oil and the higher the load carrying ability, the smoother the gearchanges.  The Penrite HPR series is built reasonably and being a 15w it's no wonder it's helping, particularly in hardworking bikes in summer heat.

Mitch- if the right opportunity comes up......

Biggles Will do, be interesting to see.  We have anywhere between 5 and 30 people turn up for anything from a social gathering to working on the bike.  Should be interesting at the next one since we have it at a business..  My current ride is a 1994 zx9r streetfighered- in pieces.  Considering my options- since everything is so cheap- keep working on and spending on it, or look at something running and reliable.  Bigger and heavier for longer distance, or keep keep with the sportsbike feel.  Just don't know.  Maybe the finances of the next year will allow for one of each- the sports tourer for the road, and a jap 4cyl for the track ;)

Welcome to the zoo Brad.

By the way, don't by the OzSTOC shirt ( they're sh1t ) or be seen in public with other Qld members ( there's something wrong with them, they all have delusions of grandeur ).

PS. DON'T TELL ANYONE I TOLD YOU!

G'day Brad - glad you made it in to the frey!

Welcome aboard, and great to have you here.

Listen up you lot - Brad is looking to become a Preferred Supplier to OzSTOC Members and is an expert/genius in his field.

I have been working with Brad on this and all concerns have been passed with flying colours.

I'll let Brad explain over in the 'oils' section how he can help us out - but looks like we've got another friend in an industry pertinent to our STs and the smooth running of them.

As per usual Brad - you'll probably get plenty of questions and queries (queery's     :eek  ), so take it all in your stride, have a look also in older posts to see what we've been raving on about, and above all - enjoy your time here mate.      :thumb

Welcome.

Cheers, Diesel
