Title: I lost a friend on this day, 2 years ago
Post by: Kev Murphy on April 01, 2015, 08:52:32 PM
I'd like to tell you about my mate Adams... we sort of drifted together in the early to mid 70's
35 years had passed between us catching up again recently. (2010)

He was short solid and wirey, sorta like a Mini Moke
hardly as tall as my armpit... funny little bloke.

We rode together many miles...
he'd dig my ribs with a poke
and say "Lets pull up for awhile
...long enough to have a smoke?"

He rode an enormous Harley,
and was always good for a joke.
We travelled Australia together,
and often stopped at pubs for a soak

Eventually he settled down, moved to Sydney, the 'Big Smoke'
and I continued my travels alone, damn, I guess he got housebroke.

Many years later on a hot country backroad
was a parked Harley ...I wondered if it had broke
Then from the bushes a fella appeared... guess who?
Yep!...Adams....funny little bloke.

"Giday Mate!" he called "All's good!" he bespoke,
"Well Bugger me, what are You doing here, ya old slowpoke?
... get back on yer bike, and we'll head to town,
before ya get sunstroke!"

We fired the bikes, and travelled to town, side by side, stoked...
and stopped overnight at a pub, just like old times,
Me, and Adams, together again.... funny little bloke

Another 3 years passed since we last sat, and had a quiet smoke.....
...my phone rang at 4 am, (1 April, 2013, 2 years ago) with sad news of Adams, damn good bloke...
he now rides his Harley in heaven
... poor bugger died of a stroke.

Vale Adams....I never knew his first name until word of his demise? Goodonya Peter, you kept that secret well.

Life moves on....

Kev, mates are very important people in our lives
Biggles, I agree. It's the relationships that count, not material things.
